-Camilo's pov-
I'm awoken by Dolores bursting into my room, then making herself comfortable sitting on my bed.
"Camilo! Get up," she frantically shakes my shoulders.
"Ughhhh," I groaned, slowly pulling my eyelids open.
"Did you forget something?"
"No? It's uh, shoot," I spot my calendar at the wall directly opposed from my bed, "it's Monday, am I late for school? Damn it!"
"I- no..." she grumbled, face-palming her forehead, "check again you goose."
"I am no goose," I saw before following her instructions, my eyes land on the date.
It reads, February 14th.
"OH SHOOT! I GOTTA GET UP," I frantically chambered out of my sheets, tripping over my carpet in doing so.
"School is off for the day as well," she reminds me.
I'd gotten Amira a couple things for valentines day this year, since she finally promised she'd spend it with me.
She's going to be my valentine. A small yet excited grin crawls up on my lips.
Just as friends, of course. I shrug, tossing the smile away from my face.
"I'm going to leave while you get changed and do whatever it is you need to do, call me over when you're ready so we can get this darn show on the road," Dolores gets up and leaves.
I'd forced Dolores to help me out with it, usually I preferred making surprises with my own efforts but this was something that could take a while.
As I'm stuffing my hair into my attempt at a bun, I hear someone knocking on my door.
I stood my hair, deciding I can do it after. Abuela is at my door.
"Morning Abuela, need anything?" I smiled.
"I'd like to chat about today," she let's herself in, walking past me to sit on the edge of my bed. She gestures for me to join her, which I do.
"Uh, what about today?" I grin nervously.
"You probably already know that I'm planning a valentines day party for the whole town, and I'd like you to ask Erika to be your girlfriend during the party."
My expression drops, this was not what I had in mind.
"B-but Abuela, I don't even like-"
"No buts. You'll thank me one day when your happily married with gifted children. Trust me this is better for the encanto," she stands up.
I don't hesitate to stand in her way, "wait, no! I don't like Erika like that!" I shout, starting to get aggravated.
"Then you will learn to like her, starting today."
"Abue-"
"Would you like me to talk to your mother about this?"
"...No."
-Amira's pov-
(Small timeskip)
'...Princesa, wake up~'
I groggily shuffle under my sheets, accidentally rolling of my bed. I yelp at hitting the floor, from what happened to be an actually decent sleep went to angry morning me.
'ArGh, I fell off my bed,' I inform him, for no good reason though, sort of just wanted to make sure he knew that I fell off my bed and it was because of him.
'Ouch, you good?'
'Yepp, anyway, what is it?'
'You told me this year that...' he drags it on in suspense.
'Oh god, what did I tell you now? I say a lot of dumb things-' I panic.
'Relax, calm down. You remember saying that this year you'd be my valentine? As friends?'
I quickly recall the memory of me doing that, 'OH. THAT. Yeah, I remember. Why?'
'Open the window,' hes followed by the sound of a rock flying at the glass.
I rush over to open the window, a little annoyed he threw a rock at it, "Camilo what the h-"
I choke on my words, gasping at the sight standing before me.
It was Camilo, but he wasn't wearing his ruana. And he had this handsome bun in his hair. I'd exaggerated it, I know, but it's not everyday you see Camilo Madrigal in a bun. Actually, I dared him to wear a bun for a full day last year, which he complained about the whole time despite me telling him it looked attractive.
"HOLD IT RIGHT THERE! I've got something for you!" I run back to my closest, pulling out a ruana I'd made myself. I wanted to surprise him.
"Catch!" I shout down, dropping the piece of clothing down from my room. He catches it, as expected, and takes a good look scanning it.
It was a pink ruana, with heart patterns and stripes decorating it. It was mainly inspired by his normal one, the stripes mainly staying the same except instead of chameleons, there were hearts in place.
I giggled when his eyes widened, surprised by what I'd just bestowed on him. I watch him throw it over his head, patting it down in proper place.
I carefully climb out of my room, making sure I followed his pattern of steps form every time he'd climbed that.
"Watch your step princesa, wouldn't want you to go dying," he calls up to me.
"Yeah yeah, I've got this."
"Are you sure? You look like you're struggling..." panic rises in his voice, "Please just go back in your room and out your front door, I don't want you to fall."
I ignore him, but as if on que my footing slips, causing me to start plummeting down from the two story height.
I feel the air leave my lungs as I scream, squeezing eyes shut tight. I brace for the impact.
It comes, just not how I expected. This is a softer catch.
I open my eyes, and I'm met with Camilo's apprehensive face. He's caught me, in his arms. Which I couldn't be more grateful for.
"Are you serious?" He furrows his eyebrows even harder.
"Heh..." I laugh awkwardly.
"You could've been seriously injured!" He let's me down so I can stand up.
"Well, I'm not, so it's okay," I shrug.
"No, it's not. I warned you! What if I couldn't catch you!? I wouldn't be able to live with myself!" He starts shouting.
"Cami, it was just an accident, you make it look so easy."
"Because I've been climbing that for literal years."
"You're right, I'm sorry. Thanks for catching me," I wrap my arms around his neck, pulling him in for a tight hug.
"It's alright, I just don't want to see you hurt," he muttered back to me.
'I know,' I smile, pulling myself off of him.
"Now, what is it you had in mind today?"
His smile widens as his green eyes twinkle at me, "glad you asked! So first up I've got a surprise for you, and then later today, like evening, Abuela is hosting a party. Please tell me you're going to come."
"Sure, sure I'll be there."
"Awesome, now come on," he grabs my hand and starts walking me somewhere.
"You're going to love this!" He proclaims excitedly.
"Yeah, you always go over the top," I laugh.
"That's because you deserve better than the best, if that makes sense."
