-Amira's pov-

I frantically patted down my hair when I hear polite knocking on my front door. Just great, my first bad hair day this year and it has to be when I'm hanging out with a boy. One that's not Camilo and potentially may be a love interest.

I force out a deep breath as I open the door, I'm greeted by Andres.

"Hey Ami, I got you this," he smiles confidently as he hands me a single rose.

I've never been a fan of roses, thought they were too cliché. But I wasn't just going to tell him that, instead I grinned affectionately and took the flower.
"I'll go put this in my room, one second," I swiftly rush into my room and throw it on my bed.

When I'm back down he takes my arm in his, "so, there's a new restaurant not too far downtown, I heard Julieta drops by to help around."

I accidentally gasped when I heard that, Julieta was by far the best cook in Encanto. I slapped a hand over my mouth in embarrassment, he chuckles softly.

I turn my eyes towards the sky, the weather was excruciatingly heated. The humidity of the atmosphere certainly didn't assist my sweaty body.

"Jeez it's hot out," I sigh.

"Just like you," he laughs, I grin with him. Covertly I felt uncomfortable, I despised those overly confident attempts at complimenting me. I didn't think he was that type of guy, he seemed so shy back at school.

"I was just joking, don't worry, I hated it too," he doesn't make eye contact with me, probably hoping to help me ease up.

The rest of the walk is comfortable silence, neither of us really had anything to say, or wanted to break the tranquillity of the moment.

He escorted me to a table inside the restaurant, next to a window. It was a pleasing view of the street, you could see people walking, talking. Children pacing around while squealing enthusiastically.
A man in particular stood out, mayhe my parents age? He had great posture and a friendly face. But I didn't buy it. He was wandering around with a girl my age. She had a strange demeanour to her, sharing the spectacular posture while still looking extremely grumpy. I'd lived in the Encanto my entire life, and I'd never seen the pair. They looked somewhat lost?

"Wonderful town, isn't it?" Andres interrupted my thoughts. I decided it didn't matter that much, new arrivals came around once every few years.

"Yeah, I-"

'OI! Whatya doin?' My sentence was cut short when Camilo's voice boomed throughout my head. I furrowed my eyebrows angrily, 'oh my god Camilo, I was literally talking to Andres. What do you want?'

'Right, uhhh, want to hang out later?'

'Sure? Just shut up for now.'

'Okay, bye bye princesa~!'

"You okay?" Andres raised an eyebrow at my expression, puzzled as to why I hadn't picked up from my brief silence.

"Oh, yeah sorry. I just remembered this really annoying something I've got to finish after this," I rolled my eyes hoping to sound convincing.

He snickered, "yeah, I've got to babysit my siblings after this."

I wasn't going to lie to myself, I did like Andres. A lot. But right now, I was so bored. This wasn't exactly my ideal representation of a date.
Sitting at a sticky, hot booth next to a window. With a sun ray shining straight at us. Disgustingly muggy weather, managing horrid small talk with someone.

At least this is only lunch, and we both have things to do right after.

Well, I didn't exactly have anything in particular afterwards, unless you counted drowning myself in an icy cold bath.

Unfortunately, I am cutting this chapter short. I'd prefer your opinions on this rather than deciding on my own 😅

So I was sort of just reflecting my own opinion at the end of this, writing about a basic lunch date with a basic guy is not my cup of tea, and there is something else I'd rather write about.

But, I will write more on Andres and Amira's lunch date thingy if you all want me to, as I also do need to build up their relationship.

Pls help me out on this 🙏
