-Camilo's pov-
I feel Abuela's cold stare on me as I walk back into casita alone. I try my best to ignore her, and instead take in the whole party setup. Which is also starting soon.
"Camilo!" Abuela yells for me.
"Oh no," I whispered under my breath, "yes, Abuela?" I hurry over to her.
"Where have you been!? Everyone needed your help and I had to come up with some excuse!" She shouts at me.
"Sorry Abuela... I was out with a friend..."
"Seriou- you know what. Nevermind, just greet guests and don't cause trouble. Tonight must go perfectly for you and Erika."
I'd forgotten about that.
"CASITA!" Abuela shouts at the house and soon casita is covering the ceiling, so we can hang lights off of it. It actually is decorated wonderfully, they've set dim pink spot lights up illuminating the dance floor.
Don't stress too much Camilo, all you have to do is keep Andres or Amira occupied.
Damn it!
Why did you even invite Amira!?
She was exhausted when I dropped her at her house, she could've just gone to sleep and not gone.
"Hermano, I can basically hear your sweat," Dolores' voice snaps me out of my thoughts. She sits a hand on my shoulder, "no matter how tonight goes, she's still going to be a big part of your life. Plus, it's not like she's marrying that other guy, they could break up you know."
I nod slowly, taking in her words.
Yep, yep hermana is right.
It'll be okay.
"Camilo, people are going to start showing up soon, get in position," Abuela calls out to me from the opposite side of the room.
"Yes Abuela," I call back, before moving out the doors.
I'm standing there for a good minute or two, before they start rolling in.
"Have a great time Señora!"
"Señor Rodriguez! A pleasure."
"Cecilia, my best bud!"
"Hey Erika, enjoy the party!"
"Loch, Soph! My favourite couple, have a fun night!"
I'm exhausted by the time majority of the town has entered. Amira is still yet to be seen.
No...
I see her, I see her with him.
Arm in arm, Andres is walking her up the hill. They're laughing, happily chatting with eachother.
The moonlight is illuminating their faces, so I can see Amira's expression perfectly.
I'm forced to greet the pair, if it were any other one of my friends I would happily tease them about it. But I didn't want to acknowledge the fact that they might like eachother.
'Are you coming in?' Amira asks me after walking in.
'Soon, there's just one more family supposed to show. I'll be in soon love,' I tell her.
'Alright, don't be too long! You're my best chance at stealing extra arepas!'
I chuckle to myself, running a hand through my hair.
