Warnings: injuries, violence, dead bodies, electricution, swearing, nothing too bad actually

The ride home, for Vic at least, was spent in the trunk with an unconscious teenage Derek. She got him to drink some water, tried to heal him a bit, but he didn't wake up. She tried to get him to say something, but his breathing stayed even. She put a blanket over him to keep him warm.

They dropped of Kira and Malia before they headed to the animal clinic. It was raining out. Scott picked up Derek and carried him inside while the others ran. They laid him down on the examination table, still wrapped in the blanket and now slightly wet from the rain.

Deaton looked down at the boy, stunned. "Wow," he said.

"'Wow?'" Stiles repeated. "Wow as in, I've seen this before and I know exactly what to do kind of wow? Cause that's the kind of wow we were hoping for."

"I think you might be overestimating my abilities," Deaton said. He looked to Vic. "Have you tried your abilities?"

She nodded. "I tried. It doesn't work. I don't think he has any injuries. But he's been cold the entire time we were driving."

Lydia took Derek's hand. Vic knew his skin was freezing. "He's cold, really cold."

Deaton took his other hand and checked his pulse.

"Do you think this is permanent?" Scott asked.

Deaton took a small flashlight and checked his pupils. "I'm not sure a medical diagnosis is even adequate. This is well beyond my experience."

"So what do we do with him?" Stiles asked.

"Until he wakes up? Probably not much," Deaton admitted. "It might be best to leave him with me. He'll be safe here."

"You mean from Kate," Stiles guessed.

"If she's alive, and she is what you say she is, she won't be able to walk past that gate," Deaton told them.

"Why would she want to do this to him?" Lydia asked.

"Knowing Kate, it's probably for a reason that won't be good for anyone but her."

"And bad for everyone else," Stiles finished.

Vic yawned, though she tried to cover it with her hand. It had been a long day.

"You guys should probably go home," Deaton said. "He doesn't look to be in any danger. So maybe the rest of you should get some sleep? It is a school night. And you all need to start taking care of your own lives again."

"Smartest thing you've said since I've met you, Doc," Vic told him.

"Someone should stay with you," Scott said.

"I'll stay," Lydia proposed. "My grades are fine. Despite missing a few classes."

"When he wakes up, text me, don't call, okay?" Vic asked of her.

Lydia nodded.

"I'm so not okay with this," Stiles denied.

"Guys, go."

"No."

"Text us if anything happens," Scott told her. She nodded.

"Nope, still not okay with it."

Scott and Vic shared a look. They both grabbed one of Stiles's arms and pulled him to the exit.

"Not going anywhere. All right, just cause you're stronger doesn't mean that I agree with this."
