Cheryl's POV

I step out of my apartment, feeling a slight breeze on my bare legs. I hold down my skirt a little because even if it wasn't short or flowy, my mind wouldn't leave me alone if I don't do so. Either way, I'm nervous. I look at my watch reading 8:08am, causing my nervousness to grow even more as I hop in my broke ass car. Not complaining though, it works.

I drive for about 20 minutes before getting into the employees parking where I get a spot not too far from the entrance at least. I pull down the visor to look in the mirror. Satisfied with how my hair and makeup looks right now, I hop down the car, not before picking up my pastel purple crossbody purse. After making sure my car is locked, I hang my small bag over my shoulder and start walking towards the building. Once I get there, I take a small breath before opening the massive glass door. A few feet away I see Parker, who is my ex college roommate and now friend, standing. Funny how I didn't had a clue they worked here until I encountered them after my interview.

'Morning, Cheryl.' They smile warmly

'Morning' I smile right back

'How are you feeling?'

I sigh. 'Nervous, if anything.'

Around us you could see people mingling. Leaving that aside we walk towards the elevator while having a small talk. Parker hits the button for the third floor and I feel like vomiting, like my flight or fight was activating any given moment but at the same time I'm conscious of the fact that I can't do so, I can't just run away.

I need this job.

'Alright, ready to meet the boss lady?'

'I guess so.' I answer as truthfully as possible

In that instant the elevator doors open, leading us to our corresponding floor.

'I know you'll do great! It'll be okay Cher, you got this.' They smile warmly again

'Thank you, I really hope not to dissapoint.' I raise my brows

All of the conversation happens while we walk to Parker's desk. There is a small hallway, a wall to the right and some closed offices to the left. Then at the end of said wall there's Parker's section that looks like some sort of reception and some cubicles are on the background.

'You got this, you're strong.' They pause briefly, arranging things around their working space swiftly. 'The boss lady is strict but nothing you can't take.'

I'm strong. Yes, I am. I've always had to be since I could and can never rely on anybody. Maybe I'm tired of having to be strong, but that's a story for another day.

I simply nod reassuringly before walking to the punch clock. The clock is reading 8:50pm but I still go ahead and clock in, knowing that first days are long. My new boss will probably give me some prompts or something. After that, I walk down the hall to her office which was by the corner. I still make sure by looking at the plaque on the door reading: Katherine V. Gardner, CEO/President. Just that sounds intimidating enough. I gulp before opening the door...

'Good morning.' Her soft yet firm tone immediately rings on my ears when I enter the office. 'Please close the door behind you.'

I do as said, not that I can help it much. 'Good morning.' I smile a slight bit as not to seem unpolite while walking a few steps closer to stand in front of her work station

I take a quick glimpse of it, seeing that it consisits of 2 PC monitors, a desk against the wall to the right and the other facing the door with a rolling chair that seems orthopedic of some sort.

'I know you already got interviewed and are hired, of course.' She briefly pauses, placing a pen on a pencil holder beside a tray full of papers next to the monitor. 'But since I wasn't the one to do so, lets talk a little.' She briefly pauses, her eyes pierce mine and I simply nod, too nervous to really reply anything. 'We are going to see each other five days a week for most of the day after all.' While she says that, I take on some of her features from which her light grey eyes stand out, a medium ball shaped nose and light brown, wavy, voluminous, flowy hair. Wow. She extends her slim yet big hand to me.. or at least, it's bigger than mine. 'Katherine, although you can call me Katy, ma'am or miss, whatever you feel most comfortable with.'

I pick up her hand, receiving a warm handshake as I nod yet again. 'I'm Cheryl.'

Her hand is so soft, too.

'The name suits you.'

But why?

'Thank you.' I smile slightly, deciding to refrain myself from asking

'You're welcome.' She walks around her desk. 'Let me show you to your office.'

All I do os nod as an answer kmce again and she proceeds to enter a door that's located right next to her desk. I look around to see a document archive on the background, a work station a few feet away from the doorway...

'Here's a comparment.' She swiftly slides the cabinet door. 'You can store anything you want here the same way you can decorate the desk with anything you want as long as it's not inappropiate, of course.' She briefly pauses. 'I also have a microwave and a mini fridge close to my desk that you can make use of as long as you keep it clean and organized.'

'Got it, thank you.' I smile

She isn't as bad as I thought. Well, she has sort of a scary vibe. A very authoritative vibe to be more precise, but she is a figure of authority after all.

'No problem.' Once again, there's a brief pause. 'Also, always keep your attire appropiate. No short skirts or any shirts that show belly skin and be punctual, although I don't think we'll have trouble with that.' She says that in some sort of tone that makes my cheeks slightly burn and I really hope that I'm not blushing noticeably

I look down just in case, noticing my navy blue pencil skirt, mustard yellow shirt and a blazer that matches the color of my skirt.

'Do you have your computer login?' She asks, causing me to look up at her

'Yes' I answer while hanging my purse on the rolling chair

'Could you please login? To make sure it's all running smoothly.'

'Of course.'

I sit down and do just that, log into my account.

'Alright, then we're good to go. Check on your email, also the out tray. If you have any questions, I'm right here.'

'Alright miss, thank you.'

She gracefully goes away, then I simply start my work..

Alright, that was decent for a first day...
