To Oya's Daughter

This night was interesting...
it started out like any other.
The Sun waved goodbye and the Moon
kissed a hello on ma cheek.

I was walkin' down the street
when I felt eyes watching me.
I turned around to see
shadows moving.

The silhouette of a star
caught my eye b4 fading
into the night.

At first I thought a star
fell from the sky
but when I got to it,
a jar of honey made a surprise
with a scorpion sketch on it.

When I stared at it
something stared back at me.
The more I stared at it,
the more I felt a heartbeat.
It was this weird alchemy of
mystery and mystique I was feeling.

When I picked it up,
thunder growled in the clouds.
The sensation of its touch pulled
a song out of me.

(Negro=Nehgru(Brazilian Portuguese)

"Negro tem a cor do negro
negro tem a cor do amor

Negro, negro, negro....
negro, negro, negro

Negro tem a cor do negro
Negro tem a cor do amor"

This melody poured from
a glass pitcher that's been
shattered too many times
and I feel it cracking already.

Twisting open the jar was
opening Heaven's gates.
Stirring the honey was
stirring the Milky Way.

I felt my heart
pounding in my ears
bringing the honey
to my tongue.

I tasted its essence and...

AAAHHhhhh

When the honey glazed my lips
I tasted serenity. In that moment
of existence, their was no existence.

Sailors say don't stare into
the ocean or she'll pull you in.
Well I'm mesmerized by this light
and I've said my goodbyes.

Where I was going, breathing seemed
like a tie to reality, and where I was going
reality seemed like a bad dream.

I was somewhere even
Olodumare couldn't reach.

Eternity dissolved and infinity melted.
It was just me and this jar of honey.

Lighting roared like a Lion taming the sky
and thunder drummed like a gorilla
barreling through the jungle.

The sky shattered and out poured rain.
Midnight rain, that rained honey.

The honey drops falling down
all around was like the Sun
bled onto the Earth
seeping into the ground
and golden sunflowers
sprouted painting the world brighter.

Ooo but when the rain
kissed my face I tasted ecstasy.
I was high.

This is when she caught my eye.

In the rain I saw a girl whose
eyes made mines leak honey.
Her gaze has a way of
turning tears into silk
that wraps around your spirit.

It's sharp, but smooth.
Light, yet dark.
Intense, but weightless.
Immense, yet ethereal.

She must be Oya's daughter
with Oshun's honey and damn..
she made a brotha forget
how to breathe.

She's the silhouette I saw in the
the shadows moving.

She's Oya's daughter alright,
and just like Oya she moves
to the rhythm of her heartbeat.

"Negro tem a cor do negro"

She's one of them girls that don't
like locks on her cage.
So I just gotta love the way
she flies cuz I gotta jelly heart
in a glass case.

But damn I'd be remised
if I didn't say
I want to be her sky

In this Midnight rain.

"Negro tem a cor do amor."
