Sleep

When life is hard,

When times defy my strength,

I evade to a tranquil world,

A quiet world of loneliness.

I'm alone there.

It's mysterious.

It's terrifying.

It's peaceful.

I always see you,

In those angelic thoughts.

They're called dreams.

I see you saying sorry.

I see honesty in your words.

I see you saying three cherished words.

I see that you mean them.

I always see you,

In those malevolent thoughts.

They're called nightmares.

I see the time you destroyed me,

By saying we were done.

I see you tearing me apart, killing me.

I feel the pain though it's merely thoughts.

But then I tell myself,

That it's fake.

Because how can you kill me,

When I'm already dead?
