"I still think it's unfair how Mirabel can't go Mama. She deserves to have fun like the rest of the girls." Mama said.

"Julieta, I understand how you feel, but when they go to the ball they will be representing our family. And Mirabel has a tendency to... mess things up and cause trouble. It's just so everything can run smoothly."

"But-"

"Let's get everyone ready."

Isabela tried her dress first, she didn't say anything the whole time which was kind of strange.

"You okay, Isa?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine." she replied without her usual meanness, she sounded nervous?

"You seem nervous."

"I'm fine Mirabel, it's just that... Abuela said she got to talk to the Guzman family and she told them about me. She said there's a great chance we'll be together because it will join our families together. So, just nervous about how the proposal will go."she responded. A part of me told me that there was more to her story but I decided not to push it.

I nodded as I stepped back to see how well it fit her. It was perfect. I opened my door to let Abuela in to see, she nodded then Dolores came in. After she tried on her dress, Luisa came in.

"I'm sorry you can't go to the ball." Luisa said.

"Yeah, it seems fun. What do you plan to do there?"

"I'm not sure. Usually I'm helping around the village, so I'm not sure what to do. I guess I'll just relax and have fun?"

"That sounds like a great idea." I smiled as I admired how well all the dresses had fit them.

When we went out of the room Abuela stared at Luisa for a moment before nodding her head and leading her to get her hair done. As they walked away, I closed the door and got my dress out and put it on.

"Girls, the carriage to take you to the castle should be coming any minute now!" Abuela yelled.

I ran out of my room and headed downstairs towards where everyone was.

"I'm ready." I said as I stood next to my sisters and cousin who were also wearing there dresses. Luisa looked at me and gave me a small smile, and Camilo gave me a thumbs up. I looked at Mama and Papa, they were both smiling at me.

"No." I turned my attention to Abuela, "She can't go." she said.

"Why not, Mama? She's ready. She has her dress on, and she could gave fun there!" Mama said.

"This event is formal. It's not just for fun! We don't want anything to go wrong! I've talked to the Queen and she agreed that it would benefit the both of us if Isabela married Mariano. We can't have Mirabel ruin this for Isabela."

"Well then it a good thing that I'm not here to woo the prince, and will just be there to dance and have fun." I said, feeling angry.

"No! Go to your room." I turned away and ran to my room. I could hear Mama and Papa getting mad. I sat there and cried as I watched the carriage stop at our door and pick up the rest of the girls. After a while of just sitting there and crying, I heard a knock on my door. I opened it up, Mama, Papa, Pepa, and Camilo were there.

"What are you guys here for?" I asked.

"Mirabel, didn't I promise you that you'll be going to the ball?" Camilo asked, as I remember the promise he made while we were working on my dress. I nodded, confused.

"Well, we're here to help you go to the ball." Mama said wiping my tears.

"How?" I asked, "Abuela already said I couldn't go."
