My One And Only Wish

20 6 2

My father will send me a wishing star

And grant me all my wishes true

He will bring me everything I ask him

And I can ask him for anything I want:

The moonlit skies and chocolate clouds

The falling snow and the highest mountain

A trip to the sea with pretty mermaids

A ride on the back of my favourite dragon

A visit to the moon on a hot air balloon

A handful of home-made sugar cookies

The giant teddy bear I've always wanted,

sitting so lonely in the window shop

who I'm sure would look much happier

sitting next to Dolly and the rest of my toy crew.

He'll bring me anything my heart desires

He said to me that all I must do is close my eyes

And wish with all my might.

Tonight I shall wish for one thing only,

The same lingering wish from yesterday

And all the days before that.

My one and only wish,

My first and foremost longing hope

Exceeding all others:

Please come back to me, into my arms

And grant me all the wishes I ask.

All the promises you have yet to fulfil,

Start by granting my very first wish:

Start by returning home.
