TW: slight mentions of abuse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A light, monotone hum came from a young girl. She was sitting at the table in the dining room, coloring a coloring book. Though she didn't know what color she was using, nor what she was coloring, she found peace in the activity. Her small hands gripped her crayon tightly as the wax material glided across the page, swerving in and out of the lines.
A woman walks into the room, going to make sure her daughter was still there. The girl was still humming that one flat note. Suddenly, the woman lets out a blood-curdling scream as she gripped her leg, crying in pain. The little girl drops her crayon, startled by the sound. She stops humming, and so does the woman's pain. A complete silence, a look of shock and slight fear in the mother's eyes.
"What the fuck was that?" She questioned a hint of rage in her tone. "I don't know. That's never happened before." The child responded. A lightbulb seemed to go off in the girl's head as a smile crossed her face. "A quirk, mama! I think it's my quirk!" She cheered, ignoring the incident that had just occurred.
"You seriously think this is something to celebrate? You hurt me, brat! You're gonna pay for this!" The angry woman yelled at her daughter.
(Y/n)'s smile dropped, confusion turning to fear as she slid out of her seat. "Mama, please don't hurt me," She began to slowly walk backward, away from the older woman. "I didn't do it on purpose. I didn't mean to cause you pain!" She cried.
The child's pleas fell upon deaf ears as the woman ignored the begging. The child was beaten hard that day. Bruises up and down her small body, a bloody nose, and multiple open wounds. When her father returned from work and heard of the incident, well, let's just say it's incredible none of the child's bones were broken.
This is how the girl lived day after day from then on. Wake up, get ready, get beaten and berated, go to school, get bullied, come home, get beaten and berated, get very little food for dinner, get beaten if she didn't finish every last crumb, go to sleep, repeat the next day. It was a horrible way for a four-year-old to live, but it was how (y/n) lived.
(Y/n) kept going, always alone, to school with bruises, cuts, and black eyes. The teachers, though concerned, didn't ask questions or do much to act upon the matter. That was until the girl came in limping with a dislocated shoulder.
The principal made a call.
"110, what's your emergency?"
"Hi, this is Ms. Takahashi from Mizakawa Elementary. I'm calling in a report of a child we suspect is being abused at home."
"Can you please describe what the child looks like and any signs of the abuse or evidence?"
"Yes. Her name is (l/n) (y/n). She's four years old. She has (h/c) hair and (e/c) eyes. She appears a bit malnourished and often comes in with bruises and open wounds all over her body. She is very jumpy and always seems scared of people coming near her. She flinches at any attempt at physical contact. No one ever accompanies her to school, she walks alone every day."
"Okay, thank you for reporting this. I will be sending a hero to watch over her for a while. The hero will not engage unless they are to witness any form of physical attack upon the child. Please keep the hero updated on how the girl acts at school. I will email you the hero's contact information."
"Thank you, sir. I appreciate it."
"No problem, ma'am. Have a nice day."
The principal sighed. She was worried for the student. The girl was only in kindergarten, she should not be going through this. A notification came up on the computer. Opening it up, the principal was surprised to see who the chosen hero was.
Greetings, Ms. Takahashi,
A hero has been informed of the case and has been dispatched. We encourage you and your staff to tend to any injuries the student has while we work on arresting the abuser(s). As stated prior, the hero has been instructed to not intervene unless he is to personally witness any form of abuse. Below is the chosen hero along with his contact information. If you or your staff are to receive any more information, please contact the hero immediately.
The Erasure Hero: Eraser Head
Note: Eraser Head is an underground hero. Very few citizens know of him and he is not well known by the media. He is young but his skills are nothing to sneeze at. He is a trusted member of the Pro-Hero Society along with being a U.A. High School graduate and soon will begin teaching the hero course there.
Thank you for your cooperation.
-Officer Norioka
"So, an underground pro, huh? Hopefully, he can help (l/n)."
A man stood on the rooftop of a nearby building, watching over the child he was assigned to observe. From what he could see, the report was spot-on. The child had all the injuries listed, accompanied by a dislocated shoulder and a serious limp. He cringed slightly at the injuries, not understanding how someone could do something so awful to such a young girl. He took note of how the girl stuck close to the walls of the buildings, her hand sliding across the bricks as she walked. Every time she reached a crosswalk, she would discretely grab onto someone's bag or jacket and cross with them before continuing to follow the walls. She seemed to know the patterns of the twists and turns, understanding where she was headed without seeming to know where she was.
He stayed upon the roofs of buildings as he hopped from one to another, following the victim to her home. He saw how she traced her fingers over the bottom of the nameplate as if checking if she was at the right house. Watching how the girl hesitated at the gate before opening it and how she took slow, nervous steps to the door, sliding her leg to the edge of each of the stairs to the porch before stepping up. When she opened the door, Aizawa could hear a man's voice yelling curses. The young one rushed inside, her head down, disappearing into the house.
What exactly is going on there, and why was it happening? Both of these questions swarmed Eraser Heads' mind before he settled down. He decided to stay and watch for a few more hours in case something were to happen. Aizawa planned to leave his post around 21:00 and return at 06:00 the next morning. And that is exactly what he did.
For the next month, he continued this pattern, the child always leaving the house with new injuries. Safe to say that if not for his clear instructions for the mission, he would have already gotten the young one out of there.
Shota decided that it was now his personal goal to rescue this kid. He would save her, one way or another.
Nothing was going to stop him.
