During the journey up the mountain along with Jack and the dozens of goats, you and Jack were just talking endlessly

"Hey.. thanks for asking to tag along, it does get lonely doing this all by myself after awhile.." Jack then spoke up as he dragged his stick alongside him in the dirt leaving lines

"No problem, honestly, it's all my mom's doing, she allowed me to go with you after she offered, but it is only a one time thing though.." you drifted off when he looked over at you

"Why just a one time thing? If it is, why let you go when you won't be able to do it again?" He asked with a little disappointment in his voice

"I was talking about how it isn't fair that us females have to do small work everyday while you guys get to do more hardworking jobs and so that's when she allowed me to go with you for today to try something new"

"I think she's trying to make a point with you, and I don't blame her, even though you do the same thing everyday, we do too, I walk everyday to bring the goats back and help cut the wood, and it does get extremely exhausting" he tried to reason when you two reached the fielded area on the mountain as he then started opening the fence where the goats go in until the morning

"Well yeah but at least switch up every once in a while" you replied crossing your arms while still beside him when you looked out over the hills at the Village in the distance as the sun started to set creating a calm scenery making you walk away a little as you just stared on

After a couple of seconds, Jack looked back after finally getting all the goats inside the fenced area at you after he realized that you weren't with him when he closed the fence gate and locked it before he walked back towards you

"Are you okay?" He asked in a worried tone

"I'm fine, just never seen a view like this" you answered causing him to look out in the direction that you were looking towards

"Yeah.." he then said softly before looking back at you

"Kinda helps calm you" he then continued before turning to face you

"It really does" you commented looking back at him when you started walking down the path again while he followed

"(Y/n), wait" he then said as he reached out and grabbed your hand stopping you

"There's something that I need to say.." he continued as you looked back at him in shock yet confusion

"What is it?" You then asked turning to face him when he gently held your other hand

"Ever since I met you, you've helped me accept myself for who I am, even when others don't" he started when your body relaxed on it's own

"Jack, this isn't what I think it is, right?" You asked looking dead into his dark brown eyes

"Well, I don't really know what you're thinking, but possibly" he said giving a little shrug making you laugh a little

"It's pretty obvious" you replied when he looked at you silently before continuing

"You've accepted me for who I am, even at my worst.."

"Because even at your worst, you're still you, everyone needs someone there for them at those darkest moments" you answered now lowering your voice too

"I.. really like you" he then said as he kept eye contact

"Wait, really?" You asked when you moved your hands away from his making him let go

"But.. no.." you then continued taking a step back

"What..?" He asked confused with a little hurt on his face

"How? You? As in love me? You think that you love me? Or know?" You asked holding your hands up to your chest hoping it's the answer you're looking for

"(Y/n), I know that I do, you're the only one who I'm really close to, after all these years, you're the one who really understands me"

"But.. the others.." you drifted off

"What about them?" He asked as confused as ever

"They- never mind" you said stopping yourself when he took a step closer to you now just inches apart

"Tell me" he then said softly as you just looked down at your feet in the soft grass

"You're very known between all the girls here, literally everyone likes you" you finally said still looking down at your bare feet

"Then they don't have to know, it can just be our secret" he spoke now grabbing your hands again

"You sure?" You asked looking back up at him when he gave you a small smile

"If it'll help you, then I'll be fine with it" he simply answered when you just pulled him in for a hug

"To be honest with you too, I've secretly liked you back"

"Wait what?"

"I was afraid that if I have tried anything further then what we were doing as it is, then it'll ruin our friendship, and I don't want that"

"(Y/n).. I-" he started when you immediately jumped when you realized that the sunset is almost over and that you had to get back before it gets completely dark

"S-sorry, can we talk about this some other time? I have to get back before dark" you said in a hurry as you drew back from him

"But I-" he started when you ran off

"Sorry! We'll talk about this tomorrow! I promise!" You shouted as you kept on running leaving him there alone
