as he was waiting for the doctors he could feel himself give up, as he was about to leave the emergency room one of the doctors ran up to him "i suppose you must be someone thats close to her im jang na ri. Her specialist doctor, nice to meet you" both of them bowed at each other as a sign of respect
"soyeons condition is quite bad, i hope you'll understand that. She will be okay soon. Hopefully" jake didnt utter a single word and only replied with a bittersweet smile, the doctor left which made him run towards the ward building.
its on the 13th floor, room 7
he arrived at the 13th floor where the doctor said it's the place where soyeon got warded.the floor looked eerie and dark; it seemed like this place was never renovated nor repaired. lights were flickering everywhere throughout the whole floor "if theres a real-life horror movie this would be it" he hesitated to move at first, but he fought with his inner self just to meet soyeon. while walking through the eerie corridors he could hear distant machine and monitor beeps. He then saw the entrance of the ward where it had a signboard that had something written on it "oncology ward" his smile just faded as he felt his heart sank
"i thought it was just a regular ward" he heavily sighed while feeling the sorrowness and gloominess of this floor. He could hear individuals crying and sobbing in pain, family members mourning their family members death and even patients putting themselves down just to put an end to everything even though they know very well there is still a shining star even if its at the end of the universe.
jake had goosebumps with what he is encountering. while he had to still search for soyeons room he heard two kids playing which echoed the whole corridor. jake was intrigued to find out the source. He followed the voices until he met with two kids in hospital gowns that were playing
.he knew who were they the moment he saw their bright figures which made him sank even more "big bro can you give us a hug?' a girl with two short pigtails went closer to him while holding a teddy bear on her left hand. "can i get one too?" the other one who had a long high ponytail jumped in excitement while waiting for jake to agree. He did not hesitate and opened his hands widely causing the kids to run on him, he hugged them tightly while whispering into their ears "what made you die so soon?' both pf them hesitated to reply "momma told us to wait for her and then one girl doctor came in and the next thing, this happened. I heard mama sayingn'im sorry' amd sobbed outside" the pigtail kid spoke
He then realizes
Their mom put them down
" i died with the same reason too" jake noticed both of were holding something in their hands "what are those?" both of them spoke in unison "we bought a pack of candy to give it to our mom but she put us down before we could even talk to her..." he tried to help them by asking what they need "what can i do for you?"
"help me give this to mom" as they both wanted to handout the candy packs to jake they heard a woman in her 30's sobbing for their names " ari....aoi"
At that moment,
Jake knew what exactly he should do.
The mom noticed two kids that were a few steps away until she got closer and realized who both of them was
"ARII AOIIII" she ran sobbing as she hugged them tightly the moment she felt them in her embrace
"Im sorry im so sorry i had no choice im sorry im sorry" she sobbed in between while talking to them
"Mom...its okay..mom you told us that we should wait for you...we will wait no matter what" they both smiled while handing out two packs of candy "this...the lemon candy i gave-" they took her hand and placed it on her palms while smiling "we didnt eat it because we hate it...we didnt because we wanted to keep it.. its valueable for us and we didnt have the heart to eat it...we are giving you this now so you could remember us...until we meet each other again"
"You promised us mom we will wait for you" two of them nodded happily while looking at their mom whos sobbing so bad
"Thank you so much mama...for everything..the next time we meet again, let us meet at the gates of heaven as you promised...." the mom gave them one last hug signing their last goodbye . While hugging they faded away making her sob alone in the hallways, she then noticed jake who sat watching them.
She noticed a red ribbon that was on the floor, she knew who it belongs to right away.. she then approched jake "perhaps you know them?" The gloomy woman just sat beside jake wanting to know more "i walked here and saw the souls of them two, i just did my job and granted their wish" he smiled. The woman gave the lowest bow as a sign of gratitude "i wanted to look at them just one last time and you granted it thankyou" jake hugged her patting her back trying to comfort her.
She then handed out the red ribbon that was left on the floor earlier, she continued " my kids left it for you they gave you one of their ribbons and its a sign of them thanking for what you've did earlier... thankyou so much for everything" they both parted ways as they bowed and left.
"Jake!" He turned back as he know who it was
"SOYEON!!!" He ran to her for a hug until he smelled a strong scent of blood coming from her as he saw she was full of bruises and cuts. "Are you okay?" He immediately ran and checked on her, "what happened ?" She skipped his question and continued with a differenr topic
" i saw what happened from the start...i hope they are okay" jake nodded in agreedment while soyeon continued
"I have something for you come with me!" He walked with her to her ward and sat beside her bed "here! I kept one bottle yakult for you so you could try it! Its good !" Jake took a sip and he felt something that he never had before.. "I like ittt" soyeon chuckled.
"You know, no matter how it is im always okay alright? You dont need ro worry...when im with i dont have to worry about anything! Irs already dawn you should get going!" Jake insisted to stay. Soyeon could just go on with him and went to bed first.
Jake zoned out, while he was in a pool of thoughts he then remembered something that brought him to realization
Soyeon or any mortal being shouldnt see a dead persons soul....
