This story contains strong language (profanity), LGBTQ+ themes, mature themes such as sex, rape, violence, drug and/or alcohol abuse, as well as suicide and/or self-harm references.
I do not condone suicide, self-harm, violence or drug/alcohol abuse. This is merely a fictional story revolving around real-life issues. If you are suffering from any of the above, then this story isn't for you and could be triggering -- instead, contact support groups either online or in real life. And always remember, you are never alone 🖤
I once read somewhere that if writing a story doesn't change you, then why are you writing it in the first place? Already, I feel as if this story is changing me and my outlook on certain things.
This story idea came to me not long after I read 'Looking for Alaska' by John Green and watched the Hulu TV show adaptation of it. Before I realised it, Concerning Chance was forming -- further inspired by elements of '13 Reasons Why' by Jay Asher, and 'All the Bright Places' by Jennifer Niven.
Yes, this is a sad story. Yes, it may break your heart.
But amongst those moments of heartbreak, I can promise you relief -- a tale of a boy trying to discover himself and the truth.
It would mean so much to me if you read this book, and I can only hope it affects you just as deeply as it affects me.
for all those
who find themselves
at a precipice
remember
there is always
hope
