A Fly on the Wall

Once you were calm, she slowly pried you off of her so she could look you in the eyes again, a nervous smile making its way to her face. She opened her mouth to say something before looking off to the side and shutting it, a frown quickly replacing the smile. Before you had the opportunity to question her, she swarmed away and left you alone.

The clicking of heels soon filled the main hall and you glanced to the top of the stairs to see lady Dimitrescu. Her gaze burned into you as she made her way down the staircase, causing you to swallow the lump in your throat as you moved away from the broken railing. You noticed her eyes flicker between you, where the railing was, and where the destroyed railing currently sat.

"What happened?" She inquired once she reached the bottom of the stairs, letting her gaze land on you.

"I did it, my lady." Isa called from the spot the railing used to be, gaining both yours and the lady's attention. "I'll tell you the story just, let her go. It was a dumb thing to do and she shouldn't get in trouble for it."

"Very well."

You watched Isa make their way down the stairs and send a smile your way before they followed the lady out of the main hall. Once the two were gone, you began picking up the broken wood with shaky hands. A few minutes went by before buzzing reached your ears and a gloved hand stopped you from picking up more of the broken banister, causing you to glance over your shoulder. Cassandra forced you to stop and stand up, gently pulling you out of the main hall and up the stairs.

She guided you through the many halls until she reached a door and opened it, motioning for you to enter the room. Once you did, you noticed the bed in the corner furthest from the window, the lit fireplace, and the fact that the curtains were pulled shut which meant that you were more than likely in Cassandra's room. That idea was confirmed when you noticed an easel near the bed and when she gently nudged you towards the bed.

You sat on the edge of the bed and felt heat rush to your cheeks when she sat next to you and took your hand in hers. The two of you sat in silence until she decided to let go of your hand and wrap her arm around your waist, pulling you slightly closer until your head was resting on her shoulder.

"They were right." Cassandra stated quietly, making you shift your head slightly to look up at her. "Those nosy maids - they were right. I do have a crush on a maid."

"But were they right about it being me?"

"I stopped chasing Isa to save you. Had it been any other maid they did that to; I would've let them fall and die."

"So they were right about it being me."

"It's always been you. I've always had a fly or two near you at all times."

"I thought I always saw a fly on the wall no matter what room I went into until I retired to my chambers." You giggled out, pressing a kiss to her cheek. "Thank you for saving me."

"Shut up."

You internally awed the way she reacted before wrapping your arms around her and snuggling into her chest. Cassandra tensed up for a moment before moving you away so she could lay down, pulling you down to her chest once she was situated. You snuggled into her once more with a smile on your face, taking one of her hands in yours and interlocking your fingers. A low buzzing came from her when you moved interlocked hands to your mouth and pressed a kiss to the back of hers, making the smile on your face widen at the sound.

"Does this mean you like me back?" Cassandra asked quietly, making you look up at her.

"Does this answer your question?" You leaned up and connected your lips with hers once the question left you.

Cassandra immediately returned the kiss, the low buzzing getting slightly louder until you decided to break the kiss. You watched her gold eyes flutter open and her pupils dilate once her gaze processed it was you she was looking at and had just kissed, making you giggle quietly. She soon flipped you over and pinned you to the bed, leaning down to connect your lips once more. You let your free arm snake around her neck as she deepened the kiss, your heart skipping a beat. Once she broke the kiss, she smiled down at you and rested her forehead against yours.

"It does answer my question." She giggled out, pecking your lips shortly after. "I do have one more question for you."

"Ask away." You whispered, a content sigh leaving you.

"Will you be my girlfriend?"

"Absolutely."
