The next night, Jungkook awoke to the sound of whimpering

The next night, Jungkook awoke to the sound of whimpering. It wasn’t sudden, it just slowly disturbed his sleep and made him open his eyes.

When he looked around, the woman was shaking and breathing heavily, whimpering again. It seemed these little delirious moments were due to the fever. Like expected, Jackson had come the day before, along with Ellie. He was relieved to know the results of the rape kit were negative and that the internal bleeding was healed. It seemed his blood had done a good job in healing her and she was now physically much better.

They were in the second week of having her in the mansion and Taehyung’s opinion hadn’t changed. But his mood had… The guy was cranky as fuck.

Ellie had brought more of her own clothes for the woman. She was impressed to know Jungkook had bothered to wash the girl’s body almost every day and had diligently changed her and washed her clothes. Ellie also had a bit of a laugh when Jungkook said it was difficult to do those tasks without looking at ‘things’. Along with Jackson, she was able to give the girl a bath and then give her a new fresh set of warm clothes.

But Jackson said she could wake up any moment now, though.

He got up from the couch and rotated his right shoulder, where he had slept for a while, having it crack uncomfortably. Jungkook approached the bed to look at her.

Just like he thought...

She was beautiful.

Her features were soft and dainty, with beautiful plush lips that were now a more healthy color of rose. He had been able to see her eyes were a dark color of brown, deep and chocolatey. Her hair, that Ellie had taken special care combing for a long time, was also a dark brown. Unfortunately, it still didn’t look particularly healthy, with a certain texture to it.

Right now, she was frowning deeply, with sweat on her forehead, temples and neck, her face facing away from him and her hands trembling on top of the blanket, where they were poised.

He went through the whole process of getting rid of the already used water on the basin kept on the bedside table, then getting more fresh water and clean cloths, returning to his place by the bed and cleaning her forehead and neck to the best of his abilities.

A part of him knew that Taehyung was right. At least about the fact that Jungkook was getting attached. He was. He found out that he liked to touch her hands, at times. They were delicate and much smaller than his. Now that they were healed, with no cuts, he could feel the softness in them. And Jungkook would sometimes just sit beside her, either looking at her sleeping form or simply reading or on his phone killing time.

He was way more than attached by now… he almost considered her his.

When Jackson had said the rape kit was negative, Jungkook had almost deflated in relief. It also was getting harder to allow any of the guys anywhere close to her. Jimin and Jin were probably the only two that he was still able to tolerate fully.

A knock on the door made him flinch. Jimin’s head peaked from the door a second later.

“Hey, my guy. Jin’s asking for you, downstairs.”

“Be right there.”

“How is she?” The older vampire asked, nodding towards the bed.

“I think she’s still delusional because of the fever. She was mumbling something not so long ago.”

“I could stay with her while you go. Do you need me to do anything?” Jimin promptly asked, enthusiastically going towards the bed, where the girl was laying down.

This was most likely why Jungkook still tolerated Jimin around her. He always wanted and was happy to help, only ever touching the girl after Jungkook said so. Maybe Jimin was beginning to understand how possessive Jungkook felt towards her.

“Not much. I was just cleaning the sweat off her. Jackson suggested I move her limbs every day, so you could do that.”

Jimin listened attentively while he was told what to do and was already getting to work when Jungkook left the room to go downstairs.

Since he hadn’t been around town with the guys, hunting demons, Jungkook had to listen to Jin explain what was going around downtown. Apparently, demons had begun to blend in with drug traffickers so they could have easy access to humans. What was better than intoxicated people so they could feed?

“I didn’t just want to talk about the demon situation, Jungkook.” Jin then started, changing the subject not so discreetly.

Jungkook sighed and leaned back, already expecting some sort of lecture. Taehyung had probably given Jin his opinion on the matter.

“I know we don’t know her, but as soon as she wakes up she can tell us what happened, right?”

“What are you talking about?”

“Isn’t this about her? Taehyung already gave me a piece of his mind. And everyone else is just scared to tell me anything, so why not now?” Jungkook ended up venting, his mood already shifting to annoyance.

“Well, yes, it’s about her, but I was going to ask you something.”

“Oh… What is it, then?”

“I wanted to know if you’ve noticed a change in her scent. Maybe in her blood?”

Jungkook frowned deeply, finding the question strange.

“What do mean?”

“Her scent, is it like a human’s?”

He thought about it… He actually had to think about it. What did she smell like? Well, when she had first come into the mansion, barely alive, she smelled like death. Even her blood wasn’t particularly appealing to smell. As she had gotten better, though, that acre scent of death had disappeared and now she smelled… normal? Sweet and somewhat flowery. But even that was now dissipating.

“Yeah? I think so, yeah. Why?”

“I was just narrowing down options. She could have been a female demon, for all we know.” Jin said, shrugging his shoulders while he leaned back in his office’s chair “It occurred me that maybe I could have placed something like that into our house.”

“But wouldn’t we smell it, though? Demons smell like rotten meat, Jin-hyung. She never had that scent with her.”

“Not if she was a female. They’re very rare and their scent is different. Blood is the only way to describe it. It’d be absolute hell, if she was one.” Jin sighed and played with the pen he had in fingers “Did you leave her alone, though? You never do.”

“Jimin’s with her. He got all excited to take care of her.”

“Ah… Did you know he wanted to name her? Kind of hilarious, you know? He was acting like she was some puppy.”
Jungkook snorted, thinking how much like Jimin that sounded.

Since he had time and Jimin was upstairs with her, Jungkook took the time to go the kitchen and eat something properly. His sleeping and meal schedule was all messed up. The usual night owl routine of sleeping by day and working by night was completely blown out the window when he started to take care of the woman upstairs.

Hoseok was in the kitchen when Jungkook entered, leaning on the counter while he sipped on a blood bag.

The view was a bit hilarious.

“The hell are you doing?” Jungkook asked, frowning with a grin on his mouth.

“Contemplating marrying Ellie for allowing us to have our blood supply back, even after Namjoon was a dick. That girl is an angel, I swear.”

“Damn right. But you can thank me, though. I asked if she could let this one pass, since I would be sharing my blood with the woman we found. I also don’t think Jackson would approve of you marrying his baby sister.” Jungkook mocked, mixing his instant noodles.

“Yeah… The guy would most likely rake my ass for that. Who’d know a human would be able to do that, right?”

“You may be a vampire, but he is bigger than you, hyung- “

The sound of something shattering in the living room interrupted the conversation. Jungkook was about to joke that Jin would have a mental breakdown when he found out that Namjoon had broken another one of his travel mementos. But then the voice of Yoongi came from the living room.
“Holy shit, you’re awake?!”

Jungkook and Hoseok looked at each other, dumbfounded, before they both dropped whatever they were holding and basically ran to the living room.
There she was. And awake, too. Well, not entirely.

The woman that had stayed unconscious the entirety of the past couple of weeks in his bed, sweating feverishly and in plain delirium, was now holding herself on the couch’s back, her face pale and sweaty. She was trembling all over, the strain clear in her face, while she looked everywhere around her.

Yoongi had probably surprised her when entering the living room and she knocked over the blue vase on one of the end tables. As soon as she saw Jungkook and Hoseok enter the room, her eyes widened and she desperately tried to move back, only to bump into Namjoon, that came from the backdoor.

If she was scared before, now she was utterly terrified.

The poor woman released a weak yelp, struggling to get away.

“Woah! You good?” Namjoon asked, extending his hands to catch her, to which she flinched frightfully.

She looked around again, seeming completely and utterly lost, tears making their appearance in the corners of her eyes.

“What the hell are you bunch of dumbasses doing to my China pieces?!” Jin yelled, already coming from the office, clearly thinking Namjoon had broken something.

Seeing that everyone got distracted by Jin making his way to the living room, and were also too stupid to do anything to her, the woman moved as quick as her frail body allowed, bumping into more furniture, barely staying up, and entered the kitchen.

“Woah, hyung! She’s awake!” Jungkook yelled, moving to follow her into the kitchen, only to see her grabbing a big knife and then turn towards the bunch of idiots that followed her.

Jin approached the kitchen as well, a little surprised with the ruckus.

“What’s going on- “

“Who the hell are you!”

Everything went stiff silent when the woman spoke.

Jungkook’s mind was doing flips, almost as if he was going into overdrive. Her voice… It was breathy, soft and mellow, with a certain strength to it. Of course, she was completely terrified and probably figuring out a way to murder the seven men in the house so she could run away, hence the obvious hint of fear in the back of her voice.

But damn, he loved it. He loved the sound of her voice.

Jungkook took a cautious step towards her, watching her flinch and grasp the knife harder.

“Alright, you guys go back to the living room.” Jin said to the rest of the guys, making them back up into the living room again, leaving only himself and Jungkook in the kitchen.

“Hi… I know you´re scared, but could you please lower the knife? We just want to help.” Jungkook mumbled, raising his hands to show her he didn’t have anything there.

The woman was still backing up towards the counter, her stare a bit dazed from confusion, sweat running down her temples and her breathing almost turning into hyperventilation, from how tired she already was.

“Where am I?” She demanded, brows lowering on her dark eyes.

“In my house.” As soon as she heard Jin’s voice, the woman flinched again and pointed the knife to Jin, who hesitated and then looked her in the eye “We found you on the forest, you’ve been sick ever since. Jungkook has been taking care of you.”

Her eyes seemed to focus for a moment, even through her exhaustion, and she narrowed them at Jungkook, as if studying him. Jungkook tried to take another step towards her, only to have the knife pointing at himself again.

“Why? Why did you help me? Who are you?” Her voice was starting to crack, like the small count of energy she had was slowly draining.

“My name’s Jungkook, and this is Jin. We’re just trying to help you. Will you lower the knife now?”

She began to tremble again, looking between the knife and Jungkook, still cautious over him. But she started to lower the knife either way, her lips parting to exhale.

“Can you tell me your name?” He asked, reaching for the blunt of the knife and pulling it away from her hand softly.

Jungkook watched as the woman took another shaky step back away from him, completely terrified now that she was defenseless again, breathing fast.

“Amelia…”

“Ok… Amelia. We’re not gonna hurt you, alright? I really need you to go back to bed, you’re still sick.” Jungkook said, no longer trying to move towards her.

“Are all of you vampires?” She suddenly asked, eyes going between Jin and Jungkook.

Jungkook was completely dumbfounded. Now, Jin? Didn’t even bat an eyelash. Almost like he was used to people knowing about vampires. This woman wasn’t supposed to know! But then again, if she had been indeed tortured by demons who knew what else she knew.

“Yes. Me and my brothers are all vampires.” Jin said without hesitation “But we won’t hurt you, I will make sure of that.”

There was a moment of silence, then, where both Jin and Jungkook simply let her assimilate the new information and try to gain trust over the two vampires in front of her.

The silence didn’t last for too long, because, from upstairs, a big yelp was heard. Jimin began to yell loudly, calling for Jungkook.

“Jungkook! Oh, my God, I lost her!! Dude!!” Jimin yelled, making his way downstairs at a dead run “I LOST THE POOR GIRL!!”

Surprised by the sudden ruckus, the woman, Amelia, recoiled even further away from both Jungkook and Jin. If she so happened to have a hole to hide herself inside, Jungkook was damn sure she wouldn’t be where she was anymore.

“She’s right here, Jimin!” Jin called, shaking his head in disbelief.

Jimin peaked his head inside the kitchen, his silver, blueish hair making an appearance, and then he deflated from relief when he saw the young woman, barely standing, all the way in the far corner of the kitchen.

“Sweet baby Jesus, I didn’t lose her…” He mumbled, rubbing his eyes.

“Jimin, this is Amelia.” Jin said, making a gesture towards her.

Amelia nodded, now trying to evaluate Jimin as well.

“Can I take you to bed now?” Jungkook softly asked, his stomach turning upside down bit by bit when noticing she was paler than before and looked even more exhausted.

“He was in the room…” She mumbled, her voice now only a whisper.

“Oh, I'm sorry if I scared you! I fell asleep in the armchair… If you don’t want me to, I won’t be in the room anymore.” Jimin quickly justified himself.

“Shit, Jungkook, she’s going over!”

Jungkook turned his head in time to see her dark eyes roll to the back of her head and her body go limp, losing consciousness from exhaustion. Jungkook lunged to her, almost not reacting in time to grab her body and then lift her so he could make his way upstairs again.

“Is she okay?!” Yoongi asked, when seeing her passed out in the youngest's arms.

“She tired herself out. Can someone go get Ellie?” Jin said, moving behind Jungkook.

Her weight still hadn’t improved much in comparison to the weight she had a week ago. Of course, for her to actually gain some sort of weight, she would have to eat… Jungkook just hoped she would wake up soon so she could start eating. The fact that she felt so light and thin in his arms wasn’t comfortable.
Jin walked in behind Jungkook and then was followed by Jimin, that was still a bit shook over the fact she had woken up.

“Can you tell me what happened?” Jin said, watching as Jungkook adjusted the covers on top of her body again.

“Well, I came here to help Jungkook while he went down to speak to you. I did as he told me, started to move her limbs, a bit, then I covered her up again and sat on the armchair. I ended up falling asleep. When I woke up I freaked out when I didn’t see her there.” Jimin explained, moving to sit cross legged on top of the bed, looking like a kid explaining himself to his parents.

Jin looked at Jungkook, seeing as he was so carefully placing Amelia’s head back on the pillow, taking special care to place her long hair on one side, arranged on top of her shoulder.

“That’s alright. It wasn’t your fault.” Jin reassured, patting Jimin’s shoulder.

“Did you manage to speak to her?” The shorter boy asked, looking between Jungkook and Jin.

“Well, we know her name is Amelia.” Jungkook said, now cleaning the sweat in her face with a washcloth “And she knows what we are.”

“What?”

“Yeah, she asked if all of us were vampires. And she didn’t seem surprised. Neither did you, hyung.” Jungkook said, looking at Jin, who was leaning on the bed post.

“It’s more common than we like it to be. And if she is aware of us, she’s also most likely aware of the demons that hurt her. Maybe she’ll tell us where she came from and where her family is.” Jin frowned in thought, then. “Jungkook? Can you try to get something out of her? Without forcing it too much.”

Jungkook nodded, crossing his arms over his chest. Jin exited not long after, and that was when Jungkook looked down at Jimin, still sitting cross legged on top of the bed, now looking at the sleeping girl and smiling like a dork.
“Amelia… It’s a pretty name. She’s pretty too.”

“Hyung?”

“Hum?” The guy had the audacity to smile even further and then lean a little to look at Amelia a bit better “Oh, how cute, she has a small little beauty mark underneath her eye.”

“Hyung!”

“Yes?”

Jungkook raised an eyebrow, now close to growling.

“Could you get away from her?”

“Oh, sorry!”

Jimin was fast to get out of bed and then apologize one more time before leaving. Scratch that, Jungkook wasn’t so sure about leaving Jimin alone with Amelia, now.
