Can't Be Happening

"Call me back when you get this. Pierce and I are really worried. Where did you go?" I spoke into the phone leaving yet another voice mail for Lilo. My 30th one in less than an hour. Together, me and Pierce have probably sent her 2,000 texts and 500 voice mails.

"Did you get anything?" Pierce asked when I hung up the phone and slipped it in my pocket. I turned away from him as I shook my head. My eyes were watering and a few tears had already slipped out of my eyes. I wasn't used to people seeing me like this. I definitely didn't want Pierce of all people to see me like this. I sniffled a bit and wiped my eyes as best as I could. "Hey," Pierce whispered while putting his hand on my shoulder. I flinched a bit under his touch. He turned me around, much to my disliking, and wiped the tears away with his thumb. All I could see was determination in his eyes.

"I think we have to go back into the woods," I whispered. His eyes widened in shock and worry.

"Why would you say that?" he finally asked. His voice seemed strained and I couldn't help but narrow my eyes in confusion. Why did his voice suddenly sound like that? I shrugged it off and blamed it on the fact that even though the stuff in the woods didn't happen to him, he had something similar happen and he really didn't want to go through something like that again. Hell, I'm scared of what's gonna happen when we go back in there.

"Because I just have a feeling that she's in there. That's probably the only place where she wouldn't be able to get reception and Lilo can't get out of town that fast," I explained. I really hoped my hunch was right and that we didn't get any trouble. I just wanted to look around and hopefully find Lilo and then come back. That's all I ever wanted to do. A simple in and out.

I knocked on Lightning's door with clammy hands. Pierce stood behind me with 6 bottles of water, 3 flashlights, a small pocketknife, some sandwiches, and a bunch of snacks in a mini backpack that he had. I, of course, had my cigarette and lighter with me so we would be fine if we needed to make a fire. It was still early morning and the sun was just starting to rise. I sighed. It would give us a perfect amount of time. As I raised my fist to knock again, the door opened and there stood a very sleepy Lightning. He was only in boxer and a halfway buttoned up shirt. I bit my lip. He looked so sexy. I shook the thought from my head. That isn't why we came here. I mentally scolded myself.

"Crimson?" he asked. His voice was still a little slurred indicating that he was probably still waking up and he was leaning against the door for support. I nodded. "What are you doing here?"

"I just wanted to tell you that Lilo went missing. Pierce and I are going back into the woods to look for her. If we aren't back by the time it gets dark, call the police and tell my mom," I instructed him. He was immediately awake then.

"You can't go back in there. Remember what happened to us," he hissed while indicating at the scar on his leg. I winced at the sight and nodded.

"I know but it's worth the risk. She's our best friend and she was already hurt before she disappeared. I can't just sit around knowing that she may be out there and we can do something to help her. Look. I didn't come here to fight. And I didn't come here to ask you to join us. Don't even ask to join us because you're definitely not coming.  If we aren't home by dark I want you to do me a favor and call the police and tell my mom," I instructed him yet again. He blinked and nodded.

"Ok," he mumbled. I took a step forward so that I was standing right in front of him.

"And just in case we don't make it out,"  I planted my lips firmly on his. Savoring what may be my last kiss ever. "I've had a crush on you ever since you first came here. If you hadn't already figured out, I'm gay. And maybe if I came back," I trailed off. He just stared at me shocked and finally Pierce pulled me away from him. "Don't forget," I called as Pierce and I headed into the woods to find our best friend.

As we walked through the trees and thick bushes I couldn't help but notice Pierce's slight anger towards me. He was walking a little ahead of me and hadn't uttered a word ever since we left Lightning's house. The sun had completely risen when we finally got into the actual woods.

"Why are you so mad?" I asked Pierce finally getting bored of not having anybody to talk to. He grunted and slowed to a halt. Turning to fave me slowly. I stopped just in front of him. Holding my place until he gave me an answer.  I could see hurt in his eyes and I immediately thought back to me kissing Lightning. Is he jealous?

"Yes I'm jealous," he mumbled. I sighed.

"I guess I said that out loud. But why? I thought we were only friends with benefits. That's what we both agreed on. No feelings attached," I complained. I didn't want to be in this love triangle thing again.

"No. You agreed to no feelings attached," Pierce said. "And so what if I still have feelings for you? So what if I'm jealous that someone other than me can make you happy? I bet these are just last minute feelings and will go away as soon as we get out of her safely. Now can we please go back to finding Lilo? The sooner we find her, the sooner we get out of here," I heard Pierce mumble the last part barely audible for me to hear. Of course, I was agreeing with him. We both were in tact to our feminine side so the bugs out here and mosquitoes and whatnot bothered us more than it bothered a normal guy. Of course, we weren't normal guys.

Pierce and I were making good time with the woods. It was barely halfway through the day and we had barely drank any of the water we bought and all of the food remained untouched. With the speed we were going, we should get through this entire forest and get home with plenty of time left before night. With the thought, I had to smile. I couldn't wait to find Lilo. I just knew she was in here. I could practically feel her presence. Weird, I know but we couldn't help it. We were close to finding Lilo. I was so glad that the trees protected us against and sunlight. It was nice and cool which kept us from drinking so much water. I didn't realise Pierce had stopped until I literally ran straight into h is back.

"Did you hear that?" he had asked while turning around and staring at nothing in particular. My heartbeat had sped up. This is probably exactly how it started last time. And I didn't like the result. I could tell I wouldn't like the result of this noise either.

"Run!" I screamed and pounded past Pierce to nowhere in particular. I just wanted to get as far away from the noise as possible. I looked behind me to be sure that Pierce was following but he wasn't anywhere in sight. I stopped and looked around before hearing another noise. Now, from all the scary movies that I watched, I would have ran but Pierce was still out here. And I couldn't just abandon him. "Pierce?" I asked while walking closer to where I thought the noise was coming from. I pushed through a couple of bushes before I stopped and stared at what lay in front of me. I was too shocked to even scream.

"Lilo?"
