Kabanata 9...
Kalmado

"Will one dress be enough for that day, Enrico?"

My gaze was drawn to Mommy's position beside Daddy when she asked a casual question about the charity gala on Wednesday. This is probably just the first of many events we'll attend this month. As much as I'd like to be excited since this is the first time in a long time that I'll be attending such large gathering, but I'm not even interested in going.

"Yes," simpleng ani Daddy.

Mommy gave daddy a look before nodding to the person assisting us.

"How much are you donating?" Mommy fired.

"Five Hundred,"

I pursed my lips and decided to walk up to them and show the dress I had chosen.

"I'll get this,"

"That's all?"

"Yup,"

He nodded and went to Mommy. "Hurry up and choose something to wear. We're attending church,"

I'm probably depressed — that's all I can come up with.

I feel like time's moving so fast, but at the same time, I feel like running out of it.

It's been three days since Miranda was sent to the orphanage, and until now, I can't think of anything that can make me function... Make me feel alive again.

Ever since then, we've gone to church for mass on a regular basis, but that's not enough for me to claim that I'm religious. Hell, I don't even know how to talk with God... If I did, would he answer my prayers? Will this never-ending cycle of pain come to an end? I then wonder, if I'm a child of his because honestly, I don't feel like it.

"I haven't seen you in campus Ate Marj," Carson's sister stated.

I smiled. "For the time being, Kate, I'm homeschooling."

"That's probably boring," she raised a brow and flashed a smile comparable to his brother.

"Kate," speaking of the devil.

"Me?"

"Of course, you! May iba pa ba akong kausap?" Tawa n'ya. "Ano? I'll tell Mayor, or Tita, name it.

"When ba, kuya? Ako na magpapa-alam kay Daddy. I'm sure he'll let me na naman,"
