VI - See You Again

Rona-yah. Are you okay? Do you need anything?

Seokkyung asked Rona as they take the road heading to the coffee shop where she and Seokhoon met.

I'm okay, Seokkyung-ah. I'm feeling perfectly fine.

How do you feel about meeting Oppa once again after five years? Are you excited?

With a sad smile, Rona just shook her head at Seokkyung and responded

I don't know, Seokkyung-ah. I'm not even sure if he'll come there or not. I'm sure he is busy with his work or taking care of his upcoming wedding with his girlfriend. I'll understand if he won't come. It's not like I'm his priority or something. I'm just his ex-girlfriend. Besides, I understand that it's not me whom he loves anymore.

Seokkyung couldn't help but look at Rona with so much pity. From Rona's face, she knows how much Rona was longing for her brother. She knows that Rona's love for her brother never changed but it was heartbreaking to know that Rona has to go in a few months.

The first time she saw her almost sister-in-law for the first time after five years, she couldn't help but break down at how drastic were the changes in Rona's appearance and body. It was really obvious that she has been through a lot and suffered so much. She couldn't help but pity her so much.

Taking her pale hands into hers, Seokkyung comforted her.

No, Rona-yah. I'm sure Oppa will come and I'm positive that the two of you will get to see each other. And no. I know that Oppa still loves you. If only you knew how miserable Oppa became ever since you left and up until now that he is already seeing someone, Oppa still couldn't get over you.

Rona diverted her gaze from the view of the familiar streets from the car window toward the twin sister of her greatest love. She didn't know if she should be happy about what she heard or sad because it might be just one of the ways to lift her hopes. She didn't want to expect anything especially now that Seokhoon is someone else's already.

Rona looked at Seokkyung with her teary eyes and with her raspy voice, she said.

Seokkyung-ah, it's fine if he won't show up. I just don't want to feed myself with false hopes. I know how much you've been trying your best to fulfill my last wishes before I go but if I was meant to go without seeing him, then it would be fine for me. I only wanted him to be happy and successful in life. It doesn't matter anymore if he will fulfill the dreams and wishes we built and shared without me. I'll just be his guardian angel.

Seokkyung couldn't even get herself to respond to Rona and teared up silently in her seat.

Oppa, please come. This might be the last time you'll be able to see her. Will you wait for the time when everything's too late already?

In few minutes, both Seokkyung and Rona arrived at the coffee shop near their alma mater, Serim University. With the help from Seokkyung, Rona got out of the car and headed towards the coffee shop entrance. As the two of them reached the coffee shop entrance, they scanned the whole place to search for Jenni and Minhyuk. Almost immediately, they spotted the two of them and called their attention.

As Jenni laid her eyes on her best friend, she couldn't help break down once again. Without any second thoughts, she dashed towards Rona and gently hugged her, careful not to hurt her in any way.

Rona-yah. Oh my goodness, what happened to you? Why did my beautiful best friend turn like this? You look so....... so different.

Rona couldn't help but cry as she finally saw her best friend after five long years. Rona returned her hug and with her hoarse voice, she replied to her.
