TRAVEL WITH ME

Monday again.....another week of school and lessons and brain bursting homework. I was really waiting for the summer vacation but of course, before that was exams week.

I sighed for the millionth time this morning. My name is Tay and I'm 16 years old. I live here in the ever busy Tokyo city and I study in the local school of my neighborhood. Everything here is just as normal as it should be, except for the fact that one of my classmates, Higurashi Kagome, happens to be a weak and flu prone friend. Honestly! She falls sick like almost every other week and the heartthrob of the school, Hojo seems to worry so much about her. He's always visiting her with all kinda of weird stuff that he says will help her. I don't know how much of it she actually uses because most of them are revolting stuff like lizards and bat wings and what not's, but I guess she appreciates his concern.

Oh well, coming back to me, I live on my own. I tend for myself and so everyday along with schoolwork comes the stress of my part time job. I work at a café and hey, it sounds fun. But its not really fun when you're the one washing all the soiled dishes and paid a very meagre amount for the job, is it?

I shook my head as I passed by the Higurashi shrine. I passed by the shrine everyday and when I had the time, I would visit the shrine to say a small prayer and give some offerings that I prepared myself at home. It was like a stress buster and made me feel at ease. I looked in the direction of Kagome's house that was close to the shrine. I hope that she's well enough to come to school today. She seemed fine on Friday but in her case, you cant really say what would happen over the weekend.

But as I passed the shrine, one thing that caught my eyes was seeing Kagome running towards one of the shrine buildings with an overly stuffed yellow bag. Just by looking at it, I could tell that it weighted a ton but why was she running around with something like that anyway? I frowned and began to jog towards her. "Hey Kagome!" She didn't hear me and she continued to run and finally ran into one of the shrine buildings. It was a little strange as she ran in and shut the door behind her as she entered. Frowning more, I caught up with her and opened the door of the shrine building.

Just as I did so, I saw Kagome jump into a well and a strange bright pinkish purple light emit from the well. "Kagome!" I called out, worried about my friend, but after the light disappeared, everything in this small building fell silent. I slowly climbed down the stairs, looking behind me occasionally to make sure I was still in the Higurashi shrine compound and I reached the well. I peered over the edge to look down. But all I could see was the dark bottom of the well.

Kagome had jumped in, hadn't she? Well....maybe I was hallucinating. I should really stop watching horror movies...they seem to be a creepy influence on me these days. I shook my head and peered harder into the well. No...that wasn't a hallucination! It didn't look like a hallucination! But where did Kagome go? I was sure I saw her jump in....was there something like a portal here? I mean, not that I believed that portals and inter dimensional travel existed, but there had to be some explanation for this, right?

I swallowed thickly. I slowly climbed over the edge of the well and began to climb down the rope ladder. I just had to see and I was too curious. Nothing really happened as I went down, but the minute my feet touched the ground, the pinkish purple light appeared again. I widened my eyes as I felt like I was falling through some semi solid place and after a few seconds, it stopped.

My heart was racing a mile a minute and I looked up from where I stood. I stiffened, seeing bright blue skies and puffy white clouds instead of the roof of the shrine building. There were vines on the walls of the well instead of the rope ladder and I decided to climb up and have a better look at where I was. When I climbed up, I was awestruck. I was in the middle of a beautiful meadow with trees all around. The grass was lush green and small plants with flowers of all colors seemed to thrive here. But where was here?
