Obscure Simplicity

Chapter 7: Reintroduction

You had driven to the airport with JJ, Emily, and Penelope, so you headed back with them. You walked into the office as you listened to the three of them gossip about their newest show to watch. You hadn't gotten much time to follow up on the shows as you were too busy with Aaron.

"Why do you think Hotch wants us back at the office?" Penelope chirps.

You looked at Penelope who was sitting in the back seat beside you and shrugged. You looked through the side window and to the passenger side mirror and made eyes at JJ.

"Oh, probably just to debrief," Emily replied, looking through the rearview mirror to the back seat.

The ride was short from the airport to Quantico, which was often convenient seeing how much the team travels. You couldn't wait for the trip to be over and to finally be able to tell the team about you and Aron. You were quiet and answered each question and remark with a simple 'yes, 'no', or 'I don't know.

As the team walked back into the BAU, you passed other agents who were leaving the building for the day. You wanted so badly to be able to go home and be in your own space. You wanted to have some time to yourself, to be with the man you loved without worrying about outing yourself to the team.

"Everyone meet back at the round table, please," Aaron stated as he walked quickly from the elevator to the conference room.

Everyone followed closely behind him, no one putting their bags down at all. You all sat in your usual seats at the round table, placing your bags on the floor beside each of you. Aaron stood in front of the presentation screen and waved you over where he was.

"Abigail and I have to tell you all something," Aaron starts to say looking over at you.

You intertwine your fingers in his and move closer to him. "We're together, Aaron and I."

"We wanted to wait a while to make sure we were making the right decision before we told you all. I hope you all are comfortable with our decision to pursue a relationship." Aaron continues.

You looked at each of them and asked, "I hope none of you aren't mad at us."

Derek smiled at you and congratulated the two of you. "Well look at you two, Ken and Barbie."

"Oh my god, you guys!" Emily said in a soft tone.

Spencer simply looked at you and nodded, as did JJ.

"I promise that this won't change anything with the team. It'll be as if we aren't even together." You added with a hint of desperation in your voice.

Penelope strutted over to you and clasped her arms around both you and Aaron's necks. "I'm rooting for the two of you!"

"About time the two of you finally admitted there was something going on," Dave commented.

"You knew?" You asked cautiously.

"Well, I noticed something was going on between the two of you these past few months. But since you've joined the team Abigail, I've been waiting for something to happen between the two of you. There's always been just so much history." He confirmed.

Aaron looked at you then back at Dave. "Dave, it's been five years since she joined the team."

"What can I tell you, I just had a feeling, you know?"

"We know, you're a profiler." You answered giggling.

You smiled and accepted the team's praise, smiling gracefully. As much as it killed you to have everyone's attention on you, you were happy now that the secret was out. The team conversed for a few more minutes, and before you knew it was 4:45. You gave a look at Aaron signaling to let everyone know they can leave. You did need to get to JJ and Will's after all.
