Chapter 44

"Boboiboy, calm-" Tarung wasn't able to finish his sentence with the leader cutting him off, "I'm sorry, admiral. I can't calm down right now, especially with what just happened. This is my girlfriend we are talking about, who's the target of that organization."

Fang went to his friend and pat his shoulder, motioning him to calm down. Then he spoke to Sonobot, "You endangered Lia, your owner. The one who took you in, even things were overwhelming for her. Don't you have a debt of gratitude for her?"

"I do have. Do you think I wanted this to happen? You heard the recording... I already had enough." Sonobot tried to justify herself. The moment she said that, the door leading to the meeting room opened as Lia walked inside.

Everyone else couldn't read the emotions in her face, but one thing's for sure, she's hurt. "You didn't want this to happen, yet you did it." Sonobot gasped, "Lia, please listen to me. Things are complicated right now and-"

"And what?" Lia cuts her off, "Sonobot, if they sent you a threat before, you could've told us, you could've told me. I'm your owner, I'll do everything to protect you. We'd do something to help. Maybe you're right about the part that you didn't want this to happen, but you had a choice to say no. Yet you said yes, you did this, Sonobot. You lied to me."

She exhaled deeply as she lowered her head, she felt her tears coming back. "Why did you do this?" She then cleared her throat to continue, "Why didn't you tell me? Why did you lie? Especially about Aisha being Iris... You didn't just lie to me, you lied to my mom."

She continued, "I saw my mom suffer when Iris went missing. The scar in her heart, it's still there... despite how many years have passed, she's still mourning for Iris. She doesn't speak about it anymore, but being her daughter, I know she does that. And you... you know that, you spent time with her since you two are my companions at the house."

"I'm not just hurting for myself," Tears started streaming down from her eyes, "I'm hurting for my mom... She endured so much pain back then, even until now with her being alone most of the time. She doesn't deserve this."

With that, she crouched down and buried her face with her hands as she sobbed. Boboiboy went to her and crouched down as well, just to comfort her. Leizel went to her as well and gave soft pats to her back.

Sonobot sighed at the sight of Lia crying. As her power sphere and friend for how many years, she witnessed how does Lia do when it comes to her emotions. She cries when she's really hurt.

Once she stopped, she sniffled as she rubbed off the tears in her eyes. She then looked up at Sonobot with anger in her eyes. She stood up then spoke, "Who were you talking to on the call?"

"What?"

Lia sighed, "You heard me... Don't tell me you're deaf now. Who were you talking to on the line? The call happened after you saved me from the hallucination. You're not just for Aisha, you're working for someone else."

The rest didn't speak up, they just allowed Lia to continue. "The red masked guy... He was the one I saw when I hallucinated. Are you working for him too?! Is he from Orangpina too?!"

Sonobot sighed again, "Why did you bring him up?" Lia clenched her fist, breathing heavily, "Because for sure you came from him. That's how you ended up in my dad's arms. Then, you never told us where you came from because you don't know, or maybe you were asked to lie to us."

"You better watch what you're saying, you-" Lia cuts her off again, "All I'm asking is a yes or no! Answer me! Does the red masked guy have to do something with this?!" There was a short silence before Sonobot answered, "No."

An awkward silence fills in the room until Lia exhaled deeply. "Fang... Just do it." Sonobot looked at her then at Fang, "Do it? Do what?" Lia sighed as she faced away. Fang suddenly grabbed the power sphere, much to her startle.
