She grabbed the phone next to her digital clock, dialing her bosses. The other line rang three times before reaching the voicemail. Isabelle was grateful it wasn't two hours later or she would have to listen to her boss's voice.

"Hi, this is Isabelle. I'm calling you to let you know I won't be in work today. I think I came down with flu or something. I'll see you on Monday."

Isabelle tried to be as pleasant as possible even with the knowledge of what Monday would bring. Staring at the ceiling Isabelle thought through the dream. Visions of her mother's smiling face flowed easily across her mind. Isabelle had her mother's eyes and her father's beautiful hair. They always told her how special she was and how one day she would be even more special. All Isabelle felt like now was an awkward freak. She had no friends, she hated her life, she had parents and no family speak of, and to top it all off she now has white light growing inside of her. As her thoughts swirled around the new revelation of self being, Isabelle gently fell into a dreamless sleep.

Isabelle woke to a loud banging noise. There was a pause allowing her mind to begin to drift once again. However, within a minute the pounding returned. Isabelle got out of bed agitated by the ruckus realizing someone was knocking at the front door. She walked to the door opening it slowly to find her annoying neighbor facing her.

"What do you want?"

Mr. Leery practically took a step back at the harsh question, "Don't shoot the messenger."

His face was apologetic. Isabelle almost felt sorry, almost.

"What message do you have? I'm not feeling well and would really like to get back to bed."

"Well your boyfriend stopped by and told me to give you a letter. So here I am."

"My boyfriend? What do you mean he stopped by?"

"Well he knocked on my door, stating he was a friend of yours and didn't have the heart to wake you. I argued with him, telling him you probably already went to work, but he kept pushing so I took the letter promising I wouldn't knock for at least a hour. Now here I am."

"Ok. So where's the letter?"

The older man looked around as if trying to find an excuse to stay longer. "hey, maybe we can get a cup of coffee since your home."

Isabelle squinted her eyes becoming irritated, "I already told you I don't feel well. Please just give me the letter."

Finally, he slowly gave her the letter which was closed with a red waxed seal which was facing toward Isabelle. Mr. Leery eyed her carefully and gave her a slow glance over. Isabelle noticed the action quickly closing the gap between the door and the door jam. She then gave her neighbor a quick thank you and shut the door without even a question if he had moved down the hallway.

Isabelle moved the letter in her hands carefully as if one small move of her finger would turn it to ashes. She decided standing in her entryway would not suffice for the mystery surrounding the letter. Isabelle walked over to the small kitchen table just past the living area. As she sat she began to loosen the seal on the paper. Opening the letter she could clearly see it was a male who had written the jagged letters. She read:

Isabelle,

I am writing to you regarding your mother. This is an emergency and apologize I can't reveal anymore. There are too many eyes that could read this letter. I would like to discuss this further. Please meet me at the small coffee cafe down the street from you at 1 pm. We should have some privacy at that time.

Sincerely,

J

Isabelle quickly glanced at the microwave clock, it read 12:45 pm. Her mind went racing and her mind caught up running to the bathroom to freshen up. She changed into dark blue jeans, a grey tank top and a dark green zip up hoodie. Isabelle got down the stairs quicker than most days. She stepped onto the sidewalk heading for the small cafe 3 blocks down in search of her mystery person with information about her dead mother.
