"If I'm being honest, I don't really remember you." You laugh, swishing your drink around in your cup.
Loki laughs as well. "You were quite wasted. Though, I must ask: why would you still agree to meet up at a bar with a person who is basically a stranger to you?"
"Hmm. Guess I like the danger, you know? My life has been so... well, safe, that I just want to do something that feels more... I don't know, perilous."
"Ah, so a sense of adventure. I like it." Loki brings himself closer to you.
You and Loki had been talking for quite a while at the bar now. You had been sure not to have too many drinks, so you could actually remember the man before you properly. His pale features, dark hair, prominent cheekbones and jaw line stood out to you in a way that you had never experienced before. This must be why you started to write about him. He was very attractive in your eyes, and you found that you wanted him.
"Yeah. Adventure. I like that." You take a long sip of your drink. Loki raises an eyebrow.
"You want to go on a ride? I want to show you something." Loki puts out his hand.
Without even taking a single moment to think, you take it. As Loki leads you out, he chuckles. "Eager, aren't we?"
Yes, you were. You wanted to see something new.
--------------------
"I wonder why I'm even sharing this with you." Loki grins.
"Maybe you feel a bond?" You look over at the small creek. It was really beautiful. Why hadn't you heard of this place before?
"A bond. Interesting. Are you saying that we could be bonded? Like soulmates are?" Loki looks at you. There's a piercing glint in his eye that catches you off guard. You suddenly don't know what to say.
"Well I wouldn't really say soulmates, exactly, but I do feel like there is... something, there.
Would you have taken me to this lovely creek if there wasn't?"
"Of course not." Loki's reply was instantaneous. You were startled. "Darling, I like you. I think that you and I are quite compatible, and if you don't me being so forward, I'd like to see where this goes."
"Oh, my. I don't know what to say." Your eyes widened. This was all so unexpected, like a dream. Who was this man?
Who was Loki? And why didn't he come into your life sooner?
"Uh- yeah, of course. You interest me. A lot." Loki drew closer to you, and took you by the waist.
"Let's dance." He smiles.
"Oh- okay," you let yourself be taken by him.
Oh what a mistake it all was.
------------------
You gasp again, sitting up in your bed. Once again, you had a weird dream. What was going on? When did you start writing books in your dreams? And ones about Loki, out of all things?
And when did you start to dance? You shook your head.
Alas, everything is but a dream.
You cursed your mind for creating such elaborate scenarios as you got up to start your day. You had a long night last night, explaining everything to mum and what happened after.
"It's... everything about him," you explained. The plates were left forgotten on the coffee table, and your mum was watching you with wide eyes, taking in anything and everything that you said. She felt an obligation to find out what she could and comfort you. Loki was someone that she had known- your very first boyfriend (from what she had knew), so she tried her best to get to know him. She thought he was nice.
You shook your head.
"He was different to who I thought he was. He said that everything that had happened was basically an experiment, and he was just using me to make himself feel better just because of his daddy issues. He's a pathetic liar, and I don't know why I didn't see it sooner." You felt yourself collapse in a way then, as everything unravelled. it felt different then to what happened with Amy- this was your mother, and you had a closer bond. You were closer to none.
Your mum gave you a gentle hug. "Sweetie, it was love. Love prevented you from seeing the truth. But I'm glad that you found out the real him, no matter how sad it was." She spoke as if she had already known what he was- though you hadn't told her that he was a God.
"Mum... why are you saying that?"
"Saying what, sweetie?"
"It sounds like you already know who he really was, even though I thought you liked him. Why would you not protect me?"
Your mother's eyes burdened you as she contemplated her answer.
"It's complicated. I wanted the best for you, and always will, but I also want you to learn yourself when it comes to things like these."
"So this was all a lesson? A test?"
"Baby, it wasn't like that..."
"Mum! What's going on?"
"Nothing of your concern. Just you wait, and everything will turn out just fine," she whispered as her arms still enveloped you.
You failed to notice the golden flecks in your food.
"Why... iseverythingsoconfusing! Argh!" You say in a heartbeat, hitting your head (not too harshly) against your old cupboard. First Loki, now your mother...
Wait. Could it be?
Could your mother also possibly be a God? No, surely not, you mind reasoned. But you couldn't help but think about. Why she was acting so weird, why you felt so energized and ready to divulge everything after eating your food, why Loki chose you out of billions of women...
The more you thought about everything, the more it connected, yet split.
Seriously. What was going on?
You needed answers.
You needed Loki.
