After finishing dinner, Hayley nervously stood outside Snape's office, with sweaty palms. She knew by the look on his face that something was wrong. She gathered courage and knocked on the door firmly. The voice of the potions master resounded through the doors, "Come in,". Hayley walked in slowly, the professor was sitting at his table, a stack of books was on top of the table while he was grading some homework.

He looked up at her and pointed to the chair in front of his table. Hayley went and sat on it rigidly. When he didn't speak anything, Hayley decided to break the silence, "Why have you called me professor?" She asked,

"You know why you are Miss Hayley," Snape replied icily. She gulped.

"Now you're going to tell me, what exactly what you, Sayre and Choi were up to in that empty classroom," Snape said in a grave tone.

"Umm w-we were, we were just-", "The truth," Snape interrupted her, looking stern.

"W-we were t-tryin-ng to perform w-wandless magic..." Hayley stuttered out. Snape's expression darkened,

"What were you thinking?! But it's obvious that you didn't care enough to use your brains. Do you have any idea, how dangerous it is to play with magic like that? Overconfidence and dimwit, a deadly combination. You could get expelled for this," Snape finished with a glare.

Without her knowing, tears started pooling in Hayley's eyes, they reached a brim as Snape mentioned expulsion. She lowered her head expecting the worst as Snape stood up, tying his hands at the back as he paced around the cold room.

"I'm warning you, Sayre and Choi, that this sort of tomfoolery shouldn't be repeated ever again," Snape said, staring at Hayley as though he could read her mind, to which she rapidly nodded her head. Snape continued to pace as he resumed talking,

"You will have detention for the next three months at 7:30 p.m on every weekend, no matter what," he said,

"Yes Professor," Hayley said,

"Ask Sayre and Choi to meet me during lunch tomorrow," he added,

"Sir, they weren't involved in this, I was the one who talked them into doing this," Hayley admitted,

"It doesn't matter," Snape said sharply,

"Ok Professor," Hayley said in a small voice.

Few moments passed as the silence between them thickened. "What are you still here for?" Snape asked as Hayley continued to stare at him as he was rummaging through some potion ingredients,

"I want to start today, Professor," Hayley said,

"What?" Snape questioned,

"I'd like to start my detention from today," Hayley said determinedly. Snape turned to see her from the shelves with an unrecognisable look on his face.

"Go to the cabinet behind the desk and tell me how many bezoars are left."

Two hours later Hayley returned to the common room, where a very anxious looking Xan was waiting by the fire. As soon as he saw Hayley enter he quickly jumped from his chair and rushed to Hayley, "What happened?! What did he say?!? He asked, his eyes forming saucers,

"He found out," Hayley said as she walked to the fore and collapsed on the chair.

"How bad was it?" He asked slowly,

"It was pretty grim at the beginning but it was alright towards the end, I'm sorry, you and Jae have to meet him during lunch tomorrow, I guess he's going to give you a lecture and announce detention timings," Hayley said,

"Oh it's alright, it's not your fault so stop apologising," Xan said, Hayley looked like she was about to say something but stopped after Xan made an expression that said he was willing to argue about it, till he wins.

"So what are your detention timings?" Xan asked,

"7:30 in the evening, every weekend for the next three months," Hayley said,

"Dang..." Mumbled Xan.

"We should go sleep, it was a long day," Hayley said as she stood up to head to her dorm,

"Yeah," replied Xan, stifling a yawn as he shuffled to the boys' dormitory.

The next morning Hayley and Xan were sitting in the common room reviewing their homework once to make sure they didn't miss anything.

"Uh oh," Xan said with a dreaded look,

"What happened?" Hayley asked slightly startled,

"I forgot to reply to the letter my parents sent last Thursday! I better go to the owlery and write a reply, I'll meet you at the great hall, take my bag along please?" He asked before running out of the common room. Hayley shook her head as she stuffed their homework inside their bags.

Just as she was about to get up, someone yelled, "Hey you!", Hayley turned to look at the owner of the voice, to find Draco Malfoy leaning against the window with his arms crossed.

"Me?" Hayley mouthed, pointing at herself,

"Yeah you!" Malfoy yelled. Hayley went to him unsure of why he called her, seeing as they've never talked much before.

"Where were you last night?" Draco asked with a serious look,

"What?!" Hayley exclaimed,

"Where were you last night? All Slytherins except you were in the dorms," he said peering at her with a very curious expression,

"Erm why are you asking? I was at Professor Snape's office," Hayley said,

"Do you really don't know why I'm asking, or are you playing dumb?" He asked,

"I don't have time for this," Hayley said before walking away from him,

"That mudblood from Gryffindor, the one who roams around Potter with a camera as if he's some celebrity, he got petrified last night," Said Draco smiling,

"What?!" Hayley shouted,

"Oh come one now don't pretend as though you know nothing!" Malfoy scoffed,

"I really am clueless malfoy, I don't know what your aiming at here! " Hayley said, her voice slightly high pitched

Much to her annoyance Malfoy kept staring at her, his gaze calculating.

"It can't be... " He whispered, now looking at the floor,

"I- if you want to tell something tell me later, I'm running late, " Hayley said quickly and walked out of the room, feeling anxious.
