Klara sat alone near the window. She watched as the trolly busses pass by her house as the evening sun begin to set. She sighed as she always felt so lonesome, especially around Christmas time. She never met her father & she could only assume he was out of the picture. Her mother was always so occupied with her work that her own personal doctor was pretty much looking after all, not that he was a good guy of course.

"Klara, dear, I'm back home." A motherly voice rang through the young 15 year old's ears.

"Mother? What are you doing here, this is much earlier than your normal time arriving home. "The girl asked in a curious tone.

"My boss allowed everyone to go home early & have the rest of the month off, isn't that great?" Her mother asked.

"Of course it is! Now we finally get to spend time with one another!" Klara exclaimed as she beamed in cheer.

"Oh yes! And to celebrate this joyous occasion, I brought you an early Christmas present." The older woman spoke before pulling out a present.

Klara gently took it from her hands. She cautiously unwrapped the present, as if afraid to damage the blessed trinket in Christmas wrappings. When opened, she hesitantly opened the box that hid her present. Inside held a nutcracker draped in mystery. It was adorned with black & white paint with milk chocolate brown eyes with dark brown hair with black at the end of its hair, making the redhead mesmerized.

"Thank you so much mama!" Klara said before gently hugging the nutcracker, putting it back in the box & set the delicate nutcracker on the table before hugging her mother.

"You're welcome dear." She said with a smile as she kissed her daughter's forehead lovingly. She than thought of something. "I almost forgot, there's a story behind the nutcracker."

"There is?" She asked as her curiosity piqued.

"Yes, would you like to hear it?"

"Yes please."

"Alright dear, but before we do, let us have hot coco to drink along to it."

The 2 of them made hot coco together. Klara was thrilled as this was the first Christmas Eve in 5 years that that they spent together. Even more so when she got this marvelous present from her. She couldn't wait to hear about the nutcracker story. She would be lying if she said that it didn't entrance her.

"Ready?"

"Yes mama."

"Alright, this is the story, of the nutcracker. "
