Cabin Life: A Dawsey-Linstead Story

Chapter 498

General POV:
After making their way into the bedroom, Matt and Gabby get comfortable with Louie and the twins in bed. Holding Hannah in his lap, Matt smiles at Gabby as he goes to grab his iPad so that they can call the firehouse and introduce them to their twins...almost a month too late.

Matt's POV:
As I went to grab my iPad, I smiled as I also grabbed my iPad stand since I really didn't want to have to hold it up the entire time that we were talking to the firehouse. I just hoped that Delaney didn't mind me calling to check in both with our friends and with the firehouse-at-large. We had a lot to talk to them about after all. Most importantly, we had to talk to them about how me and Gabby were going to be doing a vow renewal next year. She probably also wanted to show off her new ring to the girls at the house and I was okay with that. After all, the ring was gorgeous.

Going to call Severide, I smiled and just hoped that he would answer. That's when we saw his dorky face on the iPad. "Hey Dork!" Severide laughed when I said that. "Shut up man, you have nothing to say! Last time I checked...we weren't on vacation right now for 2 months." I then looked at him. "Uhm, it's not called vacation...it's called paternity leave. And by the way, keep talking and you aren't going to be introduced to your new niece and nephew....do you want that to happen Lieu....Captain Severide?" Severide then smirked. "Yes, I am a captain you big dork!"

I then looked at him. "Hey man, keep talking and you are not going to meet your new niece and nephew. Would you like that?" That's when I heard Stella in his room. "No, I want to meet them. By the way, we have agreed to delay the wedding until they can walk." I laughed when he said that. "What a coincidence....so have we." Gabby turned to look at me when I said that. "Nice way to bring it up." Stella however was confused. "Okay, what in the world are you talking about?" I then smiled at them. "Well this is good that we get to talk to you first since we have questions."

Severide was confused when I said that. "Severide, would you like to  be my best man when we renew our vows next year?" Severide laughed when I said that. "I would be honored since you are going to be my best man at our wedding." I agreed with him and smiled. "We are going to do our vow renewal on the weekend after our 5th Wedding Anniversary. So, that would be December 11th, 2021." That's when I heard Hermann in the background. "What's happening December 11th, 2021?" We then both laughed when he said that. "Hey Hermann."

Hermann then smiled when he saw the babies. "Oh god, are those the famous Hannah and Gabriel Casey!" That's when everybody came over to join the call. "Oh god, this is going to be hard. Listen, maybe doing it on FaceTime wasn't the best idea. I have a Zoom corporate account for work. How about you all get on it...you should have accounts with your CFD e-mails." Everybody nodded when I said that. "Then go log on and we will do a Zoom meeting instead of doing it over once FaceTime." Everybody nodded and agreed when I said that.

Hanging up with Severide, I turned to look at Gabby and sighed. "Okay, that was definitely not the way to do it." Gabby laughed and nodded when I said that. "I hate to have to agree with you but listen...let's concentrate on calling our friends so that we can introduce them to Hannah and Gabriel." I nodded and smiled when Gabby said that, ready to introduce the twins to the firehouse.
