XAVE'S POV

"Daddy, thank you for coming....and I'm sorry, too..." buhat- buhat ko pa din si Tribal, nakayapos lang sya sa may balikat ko, naglalakad kami paalis nung shop, I'm looking for a cab para makasunod na kami kay Ianne. Inis naman, asan ba ang mga taxi sa lugar na 'toh?

"Fine, but don't do that again, Tri. Always stay close. We're so worried about you." Niyakap ko pa ng mahigpit si Tri. Kahit hindi nya talaga ako ama, ako pa rin ang kasama niyang lumaki, for me, I'm still his dad and he's my son... kahit anong pilit ni Bench na alisin iyon, he'll never succeed, lalo na at wala naman syang alam na nakaharap na pala niya ang sarili niyang anak.

"Yeah. But Papa Jesus looked after me, Daddy. He has me in Bench's protection. I'm fine because of Bench." Medyo nagulat ako ng banggitin ni Tribal si Bench. Silly boy, di niya alam tinatawag niya sa first-name basis ang sarili niyang tatay.

"Really? How did you meet him? Did you forget what we are always telling you, don't go with strangers. It's just your luck that he is not a bad guy." Nang may huminto ng taxi sa harap namin, sumakay kami agad. I let Tri sit then told the driver our location.

"He's no longer a stranger, Daddy. Remember the skater that I once met in the park? That's Bench!" he's excited talking about Bench and I frowned. Si Bench yung tinutukoy niyang skater? Oh, things are messed up, then.

"Tribal, listen to me..." I don't know if it's the best thing that I can do but I'm still going to do it anyway. I pulled him closer to me and talked to him in a low voice.

"What is it, Daddy?" he asked me. I swallowed. Am I being an ass with what I'm going to do? I don't care. It's for Kylie. It's for our family.

"Bench...he's.. he's a good guy. He helped you and you feel comfortable with him, right?" I started then he nodded. "But.. you can't see him again... I mean, you can't talk about him, especially to your mommy. Are we clear?" his eyebrows are knotted, hindi niya maintindihan kung bakit ko ito sinasabi sa kanya. Asar naman, oh! Bakit ba kasi ang hirap utuin nitong si Tribal!

"Tribal, do you get me? Do you understand what I'm saying?" minsan kasi parang matanda na itong si Tribal. Palibhasa sa Amerika sya lumaki kaya naman mature na rin sya mag- isip, to think na wala pa siyang bata na nakakasama sa bahay, it's just the three of us. At kapag naman nandun sya sa prep school na pinapasukan namin sa kanya, dun lang niya na-e-enjoy ang pagiging bata.

"Actually...No. Why do I have to do that, Daddy? Bench is my friend. He's nice and funny. I want Mommy to meet him. I know Mommy will like Bench..." he explained.

"No! I mean, No Tribal.. you cannot introduce Bench to Mommy..." napapakamot na lang ako sa ulo dahil sa batang ito, tsk! Paano ko ba pipigilan ang mga gusto niyang mangyari?

"But why Daddy? Sugar's parents met Bench and they liked him.... Mom will like Bench also, and... you... Don't you like Bench, Daddy?" Sino yung Sugar na sinasabi niya? Did I miss something?

"All right, listen to me, little boy. Bench...he's.. he's famous here in the Philippines... like really famous... like how Justin Bieber is famous in the Hollywood, actually all over the world..so—" Tribal cut me in.

"Bench is famous like Justin Bieber?" tanong niya na parang ayaw niyang maniwala. Ano ba naman 'toh! I can't find other way to explain this to him! I'm running out of ideas!

"No.. Yes.. I mean, yeah, sort of.. but only here in the Philippines... no, actually, I don't know, maybe in other countries as well, but.. Tribal.. come on, just listen, okay? He's famous and everyone is watching his every move, and do you remember how many issues, scandals and all did Justin Bieber need to get through? If your mom met Bench, all his fans will think that your mom is dating Bench and they will hate your mom, and they will think that your mom is cheating on me and your mom will cry and cry... she will be sad and depressed and you don't want that, do you?" sana naman naintindihan ni Tribal yung mga pinagsasasabi ko.. even if on me, it doesn't make any real sense.
