𝐶ℎ𝑎𝑝𝑡𝑒𝑟 14 - ℎ𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑦 𝑓𝑎𝑚𝑖𝑙𝑦

After spending all morning with Gabriel, Nathalie decided to take a stroll in the garden.

Emilie offered her to stay all day at the mansion and she had accepted.

She looked all around her at the huge garden, she felt at home.

Nathalie would have stayed there forever if only she could.

"Miss Sancoeur!" Adrien called as he happily ran towards her.

"Hello Adrien" Nathalie smiled.

The boy stopped in front of her.

"I wanted to thank you for keeping my father company, my mother works all day and I'm at school"

"It's nothing"

"Really, you are very kind miss Sancoeur"

"Call me Nathalie, I don't like those formalities" she said smiling.

"All right, thank you Nathalie"

The woman was happy to see him again how much Adrien cared about his father.

"Nathalie?"

"Yes?"

"Would you like to spend some time with me as well?"

"I don't understand"

"I mean, you are so cool and kind, I would like to know you better and since you stay all day here I thought if you wanted to spend some time with me since no one is here for me today"

Nathalie was happy to spend some time with her favourite boy.

"Ok why not? Gabriel is sleeping at the moment so I'm free"

"Really? Thank you!"

Adrien jumped and then took the woman's hand.

"So, what do you tell me about your reptiles? I heard you have many, you showed them in TV"

Nathalie felt a pain in her stomach.

"Uh, couldn't we talk about something else?"

"What? I thought you loved your reptiles, how is the python called?"

Nathalie didn't love her reptiles, they weren't even hers.

"Uhm his name is George and yes I absolutely love them but you know, I don't really feel like talking about them now"

Adrien was perplexed.

"Ok"

Nathalie sighed in relief.

She didn't know anything about reptiles, she was an assistant to a fashion designer not a zookeeper.

"Are you good at videogames Nathalie?"

Nathalie mentally returned to all the times Adrien had asked her to play with him.

"I think I am" she giggled.

"Then let's go" the boy said.

For the rest of the afternoon they spent a great time together.

Nathalie had missed their interactions so much, she had missed those good times.

Adrien noticed a little tear falling down Nathalie's cheek.

"Are you ok Nathalie?"

"Yes, don't worry, it's just something in my eye"

"You should go to wash it"

Nathalie smiled and walked to the bathroom.

She didn't want Adrien to see her like this, she knew he was sensitive.

She washed her face and took a deep breath, then she went out to check on Gabriel.

She knocked at the door and entered.

The man was awake and was reading a book.

"Hi how are you?" Nathalie asked.

"Oh Nathalie, I'm ok thanks" he answered.

"Great"

Nathalie went sitting next to him again.

He didn't protest but he kept reading his book without looking at her.

"What are you reading?"

"A book about fashion design"

He really isn't able to keep himself away from work, uh?

Nathalie sighed.

She would have liked to find a way to distract him from thinking about work since he was in those conditions.

"Would you like to do something else?"

"Like what?"

"I don't know, you shouldn't think about work now that you are recovering"

Gabriel shrugged still looking at his book.

There was a knock on the door.

Gabriel was silent, Nathalie rolled her eyes.

"Come in" she said.

"I'm sorry fath... oh, hi Nathalie!"

"Uh... hello Adrian"

"Weren't you supposed to be in the bathroom washing your eyes?" the boy asked curiously.

"Uhm yeah, I already did it, I just thought I should have gone check on your father"

"You are so caring" Adrien said with dreamy eyes.

Nathalie giggled nervously.

"Why are you here Adrien?" Gabriel asked.

"Oh nothing special, I just wanted to spend some time with you and Nathalie too" he looked at the two.

"Uh..." Gabriel started.

Nathalie gave him a reassuring smile.

"I guess there's nothing wrong with it, what were you planning to do Adrien?"

Adrien smiled.

"We can watch a movie, choose it!"

He handed them a few DVDs.

They opted for a fantasy movie and started watching it together.

Adrien sat on the bed next to Gabriel who looked at Nathalie still standing on her feet.

"Nathalie sit down here"

The man patted the bed next to him.

Nathalie blushed.

"Oh no I..."

"Come on you are a friend"

Nathalie sighed to the word friend and she sat down next to him.

The movie started and the three of them enjoyed their time together.

"Nathalie..." Gabriel said at some point of the movie.

"Mh?"

"Thank you..."

Nathalie smiled at those words.

Gabriel may have forgotten her but she was still with him and that was important.

She wrapped her arm around his waist and placed her head on his shoulder forgetting about his wish for a moment and forgetting about the fact their lives changed.
