Chasing is a long word
in any language I speak
because it implies
a never-ending quest
for something, someone
anything or anyone
without knowing if it's
ever going to be fulfilled

Longing is another long word
in any language I speak
because it implies
a want or a need
that is never met
eternally, painfully
sometimes, truthfully

One of the things I find sad
is that life is the shortest word
in any language I speak
because it's fleeting, fragile
and you only will be given one
but we spend it chasing things
in an endless wandering
and longing for anything
—anyone—until the word
has been said and
the breath given is gone
