11. Surprise!

Me and Daran wandered for what seemed like forever. We dodged those who wanted to posses me and just, walked. There was nothing here to do but just helplessly wander around, it was terrible. But something surprising was about to happen, yet me and Daran were clueless.

"Daran?" I asked.

"What?"

"Do you think we'll ever make it out of here," a little quieter I added. "Alive."

"Certainly," he said giving me hope. "I can sense it, this time will be different." We ignored the deafening silence and kept walking, hoping for some sign of hope. Suddenly there was a screech.

"Leave us alone! Where's Natalie?! Where's Natalie?!!" We ran towards not thinking it was a trap, and our hearts stopped when we saw Natalie's aunt and uncle cornered. The soul hungry spirits were every where. Daran left me and teleported to them, grabbing their hands and teleporting them to us. We ran as fast as we could, no questions asked, we just ran. We hopped Natalie and the others had figured out a way to open up a portal, but there was nothing. They hadn't figured a way out, not yet at least.

"Ok," I said painting. "Now, why are you guys here? What happened?"

"We got in a car accident, everything else is blank." Natalie's aunt looked horrified. "What were those things back there? And who is this?"

"Those were spirits, and this is Daran, he's a spirit, but he's good," I smiled.

"So, do you two like, know each other?" Her uncle chipped in.

"It's a long story," I added, avoiding the question and awkwardness of telling them I was a witch. "We should probably keep moving, we don't want to run into them again." We walked for God knows how long, time moved slow here, but in reality, while we were here, time sped quickly. I didn't know how much time we had left, but I just hopped we weren't already dead. Suddenly a bright light blinded us, and a face popped out.

"Clary!" It hollered. "Come on!"

Behind the blinding light was a familiar figure, Jace.
