The Case of the Missing Lifeguard

"It came from here"

Steve's voice rumbled in your head. The code came from Hawkins. You thought to yourself, looking at the ceiling while in your brother's floor, while he kept listening to the tape. Again. "In what kind of danger do you think we're in?" Dustin looking at you, your eyes stuck to the ceiling. "I don't know. We'll figure it out tomorrow" you said to him, now standing up from the ground making your way to the door. "Rest. We have to wake up early in the morning if we want to make the best of the day tomorrow to find these Evil Russians" you said, making a Russian accent at the end.

Two hours ago...

"So, if the message came from here then that means.." Robin tried to make sense of what you and Steve had just discovered. "There must be some evil Russian base right here in the Starcourt." Steve said, now standing up from his previous position. "Great, so now what?" you said. "We look for them" Dustin said. "Excuse me?" you looked at him. Dustin couldn't help but grin at Steve. Steve looked at him, grinning back. "Oh, no, no, no. If you two think you're going on some stakeout mission then you're dead wrong"

You were dead wrong. These two convinced you and ended up planning to search around the mall for anyone suspicious to be an "evil Russian". While you and Robin would attend the Ice cream shop. I guess you were paying off your working days now.

The next day...

It was morning and, for your surprise, Dustin had already woken up and ready to leave.
You wrote a note to your mom, letting her know you would be out with Dustin all day and that you might come home late... Just in case. You put on the Scoops Ahoy uniform, got on your motorbike, Dustin sitting behind, and went on your way to the mall.

A lot of people were already at the mall, even though it was 11 am, and Scoops Ahoy had already opened. You made your way to the shop and saw Steve at the counter. "Ahoy, sailorman." you greeted. "Ahoy, mariner" Steve greeted back, looking at you with dreamy eyes. As he mentioned before, you were the only one between the three of you who looked good in the sailor uniform. "Ready to go spy for evil Russians?" Dustin said looking at him taking out his binoculars, completely oblivious of what was going on on Steve's mind. "What? Oh, yeah, yeah. Totally" Steve said, leaving the counter and going with Dustin out of the shop.

Robin was on the other side of the room, staring at the board that had the "code" written on it. "Hey" you said to her. "Hey" she said back. "I take that Steve already left with your brother?" she said, standing up from the chair. "The man found an opportunity to leave his sailorman position and he took it" you joked with her. You two chuckled, but soon enough you already had four annoying little kids at the counter ringing the bell.

"Here, you listen to tape if you want to check anything else, I'll take that one." you said to her grabbing the Scooper.

In the counter waiting was, indeed, Erica and her "gang". "What?" you said, leaning both your arms on the cashier. "I'd like to try the peanut butter chocolate swirl, please." she said, innocently. But it didn't fool you. "Nope. No more samples for you today, kid" you said to her. "Why not?" she replied back. "Because you're abusing the company policy" you looked at her, resting your elbows at the table. "Where's the sailor man?" she asked, as if she was a Karen demanding to see the manager. "Sorry, kid. But he can't help you." you said, now Robin opening the window from the backroom and looking to the scene. "Yeah, he's pretty busy" she said, backing up your sentence. "Busy with what?" Erica asked.

You and Robin both looked at each other and then back at Erica "Spycraft" you both said.

Meanwhile with Steve and Dustin...
(it ruins a bit the point of the story because is more like a pov of you guys of the show, but I really needed to include this part to make it more... ✨juicy✨)
