S3 || CHAPTER 2

The Mall Rats

"I'm telling you! Is a secret Russian code!" Dustin said while on the back seat of your motorcycle. "We don't know that. We don't know anything that guy said. Damn it, now I regret not taking Mr. Xavier's language classes" you said, parking outside of the mall.

You went to Scoops Ahoy to let Steve know about what you two had discovered. You went in and saw Robin at the cashier. "Hi" Dustin said with a sweet smile. Robin replied with a "Hi" as well, looking at him and then at you. "I'm Dustin" he said pointing at himself. "I'm Robin." she replied. "Pleasure to meet you. Uh, is--is he here?" Dustin asked, obviously talking about Steve. "Is who here?" Robin asked.

Not even a second later Steve bursts out of the backroom door. "Henderson" Steve said looking at Dustin, completely dismissing your presence in the room. "Henderson! He's back! He's back!" Steve exclaimed coming up to him. "I'm back! You got the job!" Dustin pointed at the Scoops Ahoy sign. "I got the job!" Steve said, now imitating a trumpet and him and Dustin imitating lightsabers clashing and making their weird hand shake.

Robin just looked at him "How many children are you friends with?" Steve just sighed. "And I'm here too" you made your presence clear now. "Oh, hey!" Steve said, now clearly noticing you were there too. "Hey!" you imitated his goofy face when he looked at you. "I have so much to tell you" Dustin said to Steve. "Tell me everything. And hey, get a banana split for the kid here, will ya?" Steve said to Robin. "You work here too, you know that, right?" she said to him almost in disbelief.

"I'll help you out" you said to Robin "You go and catch up on things with Dustin." you winked at Steve, and he smiled at you. "The hell was that" Dustin said looking at you and Steve. But he just pushed Dustin away while walking him to the table. "What the hell was that, Steve!" Dustin said again. But Steve dismissed him.

"Here. Make it official." Robin said, passing a Scoops Ahoy uniform. "No. Nuh-uh" you said, shaking your head. "You have to. Remember our deal?" Robin reminded you. You groaned in annoyance. "Give me that" you janked the uniform off her hands. Robin peeked her head out of the door "You idiots better not come in here until I tell you so" she said to both Steve and Dustin.

A few minutes later passed and you came out of the back door with the Scoops Ahoy uniform on. "Why do you look good in it and we don't? Why does she look-- How do you.. Not fair." Steve said looking at you up and down. You couldn't help but feel your cheeks heating up a little.

While working in a few things with Robin you could hear Dustin and Steve talking. "So do you really just get to eat as much of this as you want?" you heard Dustin ask Steve while you were cleaning one of the tables near them. "Yeah. I mean, sure. It's not really a good idea for me, though. I gotta keep in shape for the ladies." he said. "Yeah, and how's that working out for you?" Robin said, cleaning next to you. You chuckled. "Ignore her" Steve said "She seems cool" Dustin said with a smile. "She is!" you said to him walking away. "She's not!" Steve replied.

"Oh, costumer. This one's yours" Robin said to you as another costumer approached the cashier. "Hi, I'd like to try the orange sherbert and chocolate, please?" the lady said. "Here you go" you said, handing over two spoons with a bit of ice cream on each other. Before the lady could say another word your heard Dustin say loudly "We intercepted a secret Russian communication!" everyone turned around to look at them both. "Idiots" you murmured.

About an hour passed and Steve and Dustin were trying to translate the Russian tape Dustin had recorded from last night. When you see Erica, Lucas's sister, and her friends coming in. "Oh, my God" you heard Robin sigh. "What's the matter?" you asked her "This little shit is a pain in my ass, she basically eats our ice cream for free."
