I awoke in a box as I started coughing. I sat up and looked down still coughing quite hardly. I heard a growl behind me and lifted my head up and crawled over to another box next to me. The thing jumped at me as I yelled. "HEYYY HEYYY." I yelled banging the box before the blue lights turned red with a bang at the top.I sat there for a minute as the lights then went green and light entered the metal crate. Breathing heavily I used my hand as a shield from the blinding sun. Boys were laughing as two boys lifted the doors up. One jumped in and lifted me up. "Hey greenie,rise and shine." The boy said as the boys were still laughing. I got up and looked around before I started running to some walls. I got half way before I stopped and looked in the doors of a big wall. I paused. Some boys laughed as I turned around.I turned in a circle looking at my surroundings but all i could hear was them all clapped at me for no reason at all.I got thrown into the pit as I looked out the little holes.
"Hey.Hey there green bean." Someone said making me jump back. "Your not gonna run again ok?" The tall man said. I shook my head still in the corner looking at him. "Good."He said under his breath opening the doors.He kneeled down and he sighed. "My names Alby, now can you tell me anything about yourself,where u came from anything at all."He said looking at me."Can u tell me your name." He added as I tried to remember."I can't remember anything, why can't I remember anything." I said stressed but I got cut off. "Ok, hey relax." "Relax it's normal it happens to us all ur get your name back soon it's the one thing they let us keep.""What is this place." I said scanning the open field behind him."Let me show u." He said holding his hand out to me. I reached my hand to his as he pulled me out."We eat here we sleep here, we build our own shelter." He said as we walked across the glade.I saw a tall boy with funny eyebrows look over at me as he gave me a kind smile. I returned it back and Alby spoke again."Whatever we need the box will give it to us the rest is up to us." He said finishing his sentence. "The box?"I said"Yeah it comes up once a month with fresh supplies and a new greenie this month that's you congratulations." He said answering my question."Sent up by who?" I asked again. "Who put us here?""That we don't know." He replied.
"Alright Alby." I heard a British accent say to us.He laughed as the boy smiled at me. "Green bean newt,newt when I'm not around he's in charge." The boy shook my hand as we looked back at Alby."It's a good thing your always around then." Newt said smiling. "That was some dash u made earlier,there for a second I thought u had the chops to be a runner until u stopped half way." He added. "That was great."
"Wait a runner?" I said mildly confused."Hey do me a favor go find chuck." He said patting newts back. "Alright." He said as we shared a smile while he walked off. "Thanks." Alby said while newt got further away."Look sorry to rush this,u came up a little late we have a lot to do.""We have something special tonight." He added looking out to the glade."Hope your not afraid of heights cmon let's go." He said as we climbed up. "This is all we got,we worked hard for it. You respect this place and we get along just fine." He said to me. "What's out there." I said watching the vines in the big doors sway in the wind.He looked at me and back at the glade.
"We only have 3 rules.First, do your part no time for any free time.Second,never hurt another glader none of this works without trust.And most importantly never go beyond those walls." He said looking at me again. You understand me greenie?"I nodded as he patted my back.
