97 years ago, the world ended. It didn't get better after that. There was no rainbow, no olive branch. The flood of destruction would not simply evaporate once all the sinners had been purged. There was only death.
When a new hope came, the First were sent back down to Earth. Not the salvation that many had hoped for centuries before, just children. Sinners.
Among those sinners came a girl, Wren—known by few and admired by many, a symbol of what many hoped would become a rebellion. But she was not the salvation they had imagined, either. She was not what they had imagined.
Soon, everything would change. She would have to determine those that were her true friends. Because when war comes, they may be all we have left.

A/n: Heyyy! Welcome to When Songbirds Fly!
This has to be my absolute favourite out of every book I've written so far. I instantly fell in love with the characters and how they interact.
As with most of my writing, the characters like to make their own decisions that often go against my plans. I have tried to get around this but those decisions and unexpected plot developments have made this way more interesting than it originally was.
Just want to give some disclaimers: - I've only been writing for about a year, so I hope it actually is as good as I want it to be
- My OC is far from perfect. She will mess up. She will do stupid things. Just give her a chance
- This is gonna get messed up. Very messed up. I have listed trigger warnings in the description but I will try to leave something at the beginning of each chapter
- I have written about many things that I have no real life experience with. I have done countless hours of research and I really mean no harm. Please let me know if anything is wrong or offensive and I will do everything I can to fix it
That being said, I really hope you enjoy this. I have found so much joy in my writing and I'm so excited to share it with you
