Can I Just Stay Here pt. 2

"And what of your family?" Bela inquired, your body tensing for a moment.

"I don't want to see them either," You muttered, glancing at the ground. "They told the village when my eyes changed, they kept me inside all day for three years, only allowing me to go out at night. I'm convinced my mother organized this last mob — I don't think she thought I'd run here."

"Well, I'm sure my daughter is glad you did." The voice from before called, making everyone's gaze shift to her as she elegantly walked down the stairs. "I thought you had a familiar scent when I picked you up."

Heat rushed to your cheeks as you glanced away, a nervous chuckle leaving you. Of course she'd be able to tell you were the soulmate of someone in the castle, she's not human. Neither are her daughters. Your soulmate is a vampire.

"I wondered why you didn't let me leave, my lady." You nervously chuckled, glancing back up at her. "But I do have to thank you for bringing me in here — I don't think I would've ever been happy if you didn't."

"Well, you being away from my daughter made her miserable. Especially when you hated her." You flinched slightly at that, taking a step away from Daniela.

"I regret it," You whispered, glancing down at your feet. "I didn't want to hate her — I just wanted to live a normal life in the village."

"And now?" Lady Dimitrescu asked, gold eyes burning into you.

"I want to stay here, my lady. I want both myself and your daughter to be happy. So, if you'll let me, I'll stay forever."

The lady let her eyes drift to her daughter, her lips curling slightly before she let out a faint sigh, a chuckle leaving her shortly after. You raised an eyebrow before glancing back at Daniela, noticing a small pout on her face as she stared up at her mother, her gloved hands holding your hand.

"Well, it appears my daughter is perfectly fine with you staying here despite the pain you caused her over the years, so you may stay."

"If you hurt our sister again, we'll kill you." Bela and Cassandra said in unison, making you whimper slightly and nod at them.

"Okay, taking my soulmate to the library. BYE." Daniela hissed at her sisters before picking you up in her swarm.

Once you had stopped moving, you noticed Daniela had set you in her lap and held you against her body, burying her face in your neck. She took a deep breath of your scent, letting out a shaky moan shortly after.

"You smell amazing," She muttered, slowly pulling away from your neck. "So, is there anything about us you'd like to know?"

"The only thing I'd like to know is if I'll live forever too." You frowned, leaning into her. "If I don't want to hurt you again, it'd probably be best if I were also immortal, right?"

"You have a point there." She grumbled, nuzzling into you. "We can ask mother at a later time. Tell me about yourself."

"Well, I wasn't able to leave the house during the day after my eyes changed so, I've spent the last three years reading during the day. I'd read anything in the house, especially the romance books that my parents had. It made me long for what was written on the pages."

"But you never tried to seek it out? Mother said she's seen someone staring at the castle for years now, was it you?"

Your heart sped up at that, making you clear your throat and try to laugh it off. Her giggles filled the air as she turned you to face her.

"It was you!" She laughed, making you pout and glance away. "Why didn't you just run away?"

"Truthfully... I was scared," You took note of her frown and gently cupped her cheeks. "Not of you, but of the villagers. I didn't want them to do something that could harm your family, and I didn't know if those that were given gifts from Mother Miranda could love anyway. I didn't want it to be one sided."

"It will never be one sided," She hummed out, pressing her forehead to yours. "I promise you that."
