a bad omen

Am I living in a fictional drama?

This is not Riverdale, where a chapter gets a tragic cliffhanger from every season's mysteries. This is not the century of the teenager Joan of Arc being known as someone who was 'instructed' by an angel to save France from invaders. We are not dealing with Sherlock Holmes's life around this country, nor Detective Dupin's.

We are not in a Netflix film. This does not seem to be normal. This is not normal.

I do remember saying such things about a fire that's about to be seen but this, for crying out loud, is not what I meant! It can't be this literal and horrible. This is terrifying.

Why does this keep happening?

First, the toy store's explosion, followed by Arthur Garrel's murder, and now this. Sauvestre's family restaurant being burned down into grey ashes. And figuratively, it feels like a new case of mystery being written down on the paper with the rest of the previous ones. Something like this keeps on happening and I hate to think that everything is connected with me. It's like a bad omen or something, and I'm afraid, even worse.

What is worse than a bad omen? Practically, the person who's behind all of this.

"The f*ck, Andre? Will you please stop?"

We can hear the indistinct noise coming from the living room. Khael's several friends, whom we invited from the party, stayed here and started their own celebration after the incident.

They're having fun. Yet, here we are at the kitchen table, carrying emotions that are definitely nowhere near the word 'fun'.

"Ano nanamang problema mo?"

Pat removed her palm that's placed below her chin. "I'm just telling you to calm down. Walking around like a chimpanzee won't solve anything."

I played with the plastic cup I have in my hands.

"Paano kung mamatay si Mr. Sauvestre?" Praning na tanong niya, halatang hindi pinakinggan ang sinabi ni Pat.

Dahil doon ay napaangat ako ng tingin. That's exactly what I have in mind right now.

Nilingon ako ni Pat. "You're not helping." She glared at Ford.

"Ooh, what have I done..." I did a face palm out of frustration.
