Killian stomped out the butt of his smoke with his steel-toed boot before finally getting off his bike, his nerves always in a bundle whenever he chose to go to the library. Ever since he had seen her just casually walking down the street, Killian had never been the same. Normally he didn't chase women, they chased him, and he wasn't stupid, he knew that with his 6'4 stature, his perfectly sculpted body, and tattoos he made most women swoon. Every woman wanted him, except for the one he desperately wanted.

She wasn't like the same fake women he was used to being with, she was innocent and sweet, but he could see there was something mysterious about her bubbling just below the surface of her sweet smile. She was everything he had ever wanted in a woman, but every time he tried to flirt with her or even ask her out, she would just smile and tell him that there were better women out there.

Killian pushed open the door as the bell above him rang alerting Althea as she looked up from sorting the various books. "Good evening Killian, did you finish the book?" She asked in a sweet tone as she carefully stepped down from the tall ladder, Killian loving the way the color of her turquoise sweater brought out the beauty of her eyes, even if they were hiding behind thick black glasses.

"I did, thank you." He said as he tossed the book in the return slot, his eyes watching as she grabbed another small stack of books and slowly carried them up the latter. "Need help?"

"I think I got it, but you can hold the ladder, I don't want to fall." She smiled as Killian held the latter steady, his eyes watching her movements as he tried not to imagine how soft her lips felt. She wasn't like the women who threw themselves at him, she was quiet and charming, but she also had a figure that wasn't bought and paid for. His younger brother Mathias had at one time dared to call her a big girl, but the moment Killian's hand connected with his mouth, he changed his tone.

Althea wasn't big, and even if she was, he wouldn't care, because never in his life had he ever met a woman who was able to hold her end of the conversation or make him laugh. "I know the answer to this already, but can I take you to dinner?"

"Mr. Killian, you are far too sweet to ask me that, besides, you don't want to date me I am boring."

"You are not boring, trust me." As she slowly stepped down the ladder, he said her foot missed the bottom step as she slipped falling almost directly into his arms. "Don't worry, I got you." He whispered as she smiled and gently wiggled from his grasp. Having her in his arms even for a moment was enough to ignite the fire that was burning deep inside him. Killian wanted to hope that one day he would take him up on his offer to date, but in the meantime, he enjoyed having her as a friend.

"If you liked that book so much, how about this one, it's a little bit on the horror side but—it doesn't disappoint." She said as she took a book out from behind the desk and slid it over him, Killian took it as his eyes again began to wander all over her body.

"Why do you stare at me like that?" She asked in a small voice as she hopped up on the stool, her shift ending in thirty minutes, but her feet needed a break.

"Why is it so crazy for you to grasp that I am very attracted to you, Althea?"

"Because you are so wonderful and I am just me. I'm not special. I don't even have a single tattoo"

"Exactly. You aren't fake—and you are the sweetest woman I have ever met." He said as she smirked and pushed her glasses further up her nose, a soft blush going over her cheeks as she opened her book and pretended to read.

"Killian—I was raised in a strict household; I mean I am 25 and just moved out on my own. I've never experienced life—let alone a man." Her words made his head spin since he had been sure that a woman as perfect as her would've had plenty of men in her life.

"What's so wrong about experiencing life with me—I won't bite, not unless you like that." He winked as Althea blushed hard and looked away from him, her body turning into jello as she could feel his eyes on her.

"I hope you enjoy the book." She meekly said as she hopped down from the stool and walked into the back office, her hand on her chest as she tried to stable her breathing. Althea was attracted to Killian, she would be crazy not to be, but the thought of being intimate with him always sent her into a panic. She was so inexperienced that she had never even been kissed and being in his arms after nearly falling was the most contact she had ever had with a man.

"Oh, my word. I thought you had left." She whispered as she walked from the office, her body crashing into Killian's as his tall frame overshadowed hers. Normally she had never been attracted to a man covered head to toe in tattoos with a thick beard, but there was something so endearing about Killian

"Please don't be scared of me, I know with everything I am a lot to take in, but I wouldn't hurt you, Althea."

"I know you wouldn't, but a man like you deserves a woman who knows what she is doing. No part of my body has ever been touched by a man and the thought of just holding you makes me nervous." Her words made his eyes go wide as he processed what she was saying, Killian, smiling down at her as he gently ran his fingers over her cheek.

"See—that didn't hurt did it."

"No—you have soft hands for a biker." She smiled as she stepped around him, his hand taking hers as he gently kissed her knuckles before grabbing the book and leaving the library. Althea let out a huge breath as her hand rested on her stomach, a smile moving over her lips as she rested her hand on her cheek, a part of her still able to feel his touch. Althea wanted to accept his invitation to dinner, but she knew that her life would never be the same once she did.
