Eleven-forty-five, a café called Ocean Stop near Bayland Cusp, was quiet and unsuspecting of the riots coming full speed ahead.
But word was spreading. Already, slaves living near Bayland Cusp were getting wind of the movement.
The revolution had begun.
At a table inside the inn, Mallord was remembering the last words Penelope said to him before he left. He was given a long, purposeful stare and a tender kiss. When Penelope stepped back, she whispered, "Bring my son home and my Mallord."
"I will, Penny," he had said, calling her by her old nickname.
"Penny, I will," he said now and looked up. Spanky, Cricket, and Albert each gave a nod.
"Let's go and get this over with," Mallord said, standing up. He patted his hard chest, and his trusty gun.
