a/n: first chapter of a new book series!

-

summary: where Jungkook is touch-deprived and also has some back pain because of his extreme gaming nights so he decides to kill two birds with one stone and goes to a chiropractic office but instead he bumps into his ex who happened to be the only chiropractor on call.

It is when Jungkook strolls into the office that he realizes he made an enormous mistake. Seeing the one person he's been trying to get over for eons come out from behind the door was like a smack in the face for the little progress he's made into forgetting him.

He wouldn't have come here if he knew Taehyung worked here. It's also when they both stumble over words to deliver to each other and even though Taehyung's a licensed professional, he couldn't help but feel a little fidgety around the guy that used to make his world light up.

But now, things were different.

They are no longer in that position and he, too, has been trying to forget him. But it's hard when Jungkook's love language is touch and chiropractics is basically all touch.

It's a little awkward, he mentally admits, but Jungkook has longed for his touch- missed it so much when he had a stiff neck, when he had back pain, and sore muscles because Taehyung would magically make it go away with his miraculous massages. He'd claim that his hands were magical and that always made the older chuckle.

Jungkook's nervous now, though. Feels nervous when he realizes they're both in a tiny room with just a table where Taehyung will hover over him and touch him. The thought makes goosebumps form across his skin, but he blamed it on the air conditioning.

As Jungkook lays on his chest, his face is away from Taehyung and he's glad he's not able to see him during the procedure. He stills when he feels Taehyung examining his body and pressing down on his back and sore muscles.

He hears Taehyung sigh, "Gosh, Jungkook. You have so much muscle tension. No wonder you're in pain." He mumbles, continuing to press on certain areas of the younger's back.

"Yeah," Jungkook answers hoarsely, wincing a bit when he presses on the tender spots.

"You still playing those games and sitting on that chair for hours?"

The line pierces him straight in the heart because Jungkook remembers. He remembers the fights they'd have about him playing for so long. Taehyung would scold him when Jungkook's in the middle of a game, and hating to be interrupted, he'd lash out, yelling at him, and the two wouldn't talk for days. He'd miss out on dates because he devoted his free time to games.

Occasionally, he would go on them, but Taehyung wanted more. His love language was quality time, and Jungkook didn't realize that. Didn't realize the dejected look on his face when he told him he had a game that night. Didn't realize that Taehyung started becoming more impatient with him because he refused to spend time with him. Didn't realize that he was the reason they were slowly distancing. It was all games, games, games.

It's corny and Jungkook hates to admit it but truly you never know what you have until it's gone. Or rather who in this situation.

"I'm so sorry." Jungkook subconsciously whispers, barely even audible over the loud air conditioning above them.

Taehyung removes his hands off him, "Did you say something?"

Jungkook snaps back into reality, "Huh? No- I didn't." Taehyung hums a response before continuing, and he's explaining some procedures about what he's gonna do, but Jungkook couldn't help but to think about how much he wronged Taehyung. The times he knew his words could hurt, but said them anyway and the older would forgive him every time.
