JENNIE'S POV

A stranger had officially invaded my house

In my moment of confusion and what-the-heck-heck-was-going-on, I walked toward where I left my books, picked them up, and walked back into my house

I wasn't sure if I should freak out or just accept the fact that an angry stranger will be living with us for a while, so I stayed silent

We all settled down on the couch in the living room. In front of the couch laid a fireplace and a TV screwed onto the walkabout it

"So..." My mother began. She stood there, looking between the two of us while this stranger sat on one end couch and I on the other. "Jennie, this is Lalisa Manoban"

"Lalisa Manoban?" I baffled. "The new girl?"

Why in the world would she be in this house? What kind of relationship does my mother have with her? Oh, golly jeepers, what was going on?

"What?" The new girl glared at me

My mother coughed and eyed me, "Okay, um well, Lisa, I am Mrs. Kim, which I'm sure your guardians have told you about. You can call me Claudia and this is my daughter, Jennie"

When my mother started explaining our situation regarding our temperamental guest, all I got was that Lisa had to move because of a certain incident that took place in school and that she couldn't stay home because of...' certain reasons', she says. Mother was friends with Lisa's parents which was why she offered that she can stay here for the time being. She didn't specify how long, though

I found it odd that she said 'parents' this time instead of 'guardians' though, but I didn't see how questioning it would seem relevant at the moment

I wasn't sure how I should feel about this so I just stared blankly at her. Well, as long as Lisa doesn't bother me when I'm doing my studies or look through my worn-out, crumpled old box that I keep hidden under my bed, then I guess this should be fine

"Where will she be staying?" I wondered

"In your room. I've already got an extra bed set up" she nonchalantly answered my question

My eyes grew wide. My room? A stranger is going to sleep in my room?

Huh. "Okay"

I noticed Lisa studying my face, trying to see my reaction to this news, but to her surprise, she didn't find any. Of course, she wouldn't. I don't particularly mind as long as she doesn't do what I've mentioned before. Having a roommate seems like an interesting experience to have so I'll accept it

She seemed disappointed. I think. I wasn't so sure because of her apparent default angry features. I had the sudden urge to appease her somehow, to make those hard edges of her hazel eyes soften. Maybe I should give her some sort of reaction

So that's what I did

I stood up from the couch, casually walked towards the kitchen, grabbed a cup of water, walked back, and sat down on the couch. Lisa and my mother held a puzzled expression toward my sudden demonstration

I nonchalantly drank the water and spat it out on the side in feigned shock, "She's going to sleep in my room?! What if she eats my homework when I'm asleep!"

"Jennie!" My mother exclaimed in disbelief

Lisa jumped in her seat in surprise and cursed at me in anger, "Why the hell did you that for, you psycho! That's disgusting!"

"It was to express how shocked I was," I said. "Isn't that what you wanted?"

If this was a cartoon, Lisa would have been puffing up smoke by now and exploded. "What are you trying to say?" She said through gritted teeth. I tilted my head, confused. I thought she wanted some sort of retaliation from me. Must be something else. Food, perhaps?
