Chapter 20: "Dean Man's Blood"

They're in a local diner and Liz says, "Uh, man in Colorado. Local man by the name of Daniel Elkins was found mauled in his home." Dean says, "Elkins. I know that name." Sam says, "Doesn't ring a bell." Liz says, "Looks like the cops don't know what to think. At first they said it was some sort of bear attack, and now they found signs of robbery." Dean says, "Mm-Hmm. Here. Check it out." Sam says, "You think it's the same Elkins?" Dean says, "It's a Colorado area code." They drive to Colorado and check out the man's house. They find John and find out that Elkins was John's mentor. John says, "When you searched the place, did you see a gun, an antique, a colt revolver? Did you see it?" Liz says, "Uh, there was an old case, but it was empty." John says, "They have it." Dean says, "You mean whatever killed Elkins?" John says, "We got to pick up their trail." They find out they're dealing with vampires. Dean says, "I thought vampires weren't real?" Liz turns to Dean and says, "Wait have you guys not dealt with a vampire?" Dean looks at Liz and says, "You have?" Liz nods and says, "Yeah, but it was a long time ago." Later, the boys are asleep and Liz and John are awake, listening to a police radio. John says, "So, how are you doing with your new found powers?" Liz says, "I'm still trying to figure out how to control it. I kind of want to ask the demon if he knows what I am. I know it's a bad idea, but what else am I gonna do?" John nods and says, "Well, what I'm trying to understand is how does he know who you are, I mean, he'd have to have some sort of connection to you." Liz nods and says, "Yeah, I have been wondering that too. Maybe he knows who my real parents are." John says, "Maybe, but don't get your hopes up." Liz nods.

The next day, Dean says, "Son of a bitch. So they're really not afraid of the sun?" John says, "No, direct sunlight hurts like a nasty sunburn." Liz says, "The only way to kill them is beheading. And, yeah, they sleep during the day." John says, "It doesn't mean they won't wake up though." Dean says, "So I guess walking right in's not our best option." John says, "Actually, that's the plan." John tells them the legend about the colt. They sneak into the barn and find most of the vampires sleeping. Liz finds a woman tied up and Liz says, "Hey. Hey, hey, Shh. I'm here to help you." The woman starts screaming, waking the vampires. They all start running away. Dean says, "Why do you want us out of the big fight?" John says, "This demon...it's a bad son of a bitch. Okay, I can't be worried about you guys and fight the demon?" Liz says, "John, you got a let us help you. I know you want to protect us, but we can hold are own." Sam, Dean, and Liz go back to the barn and start beheading vampires and save the people in the cage. They save John and the head vampire has Sam in a choke hold. The man says, "You people. Why can't you just leave us alone? We have as much right to live as you do." Liz says, "I don't think so." Liz grabs the colt and shoots him in the head. He then dies and they all look at Liz. Later, John says, "Well go after this demon together." Liz smiles and thinks that finally they can do this together.
