A/N: I honestly couldn't think of a title for this chapter cuz it's filler but enjoy babes. I'm annoying so I changed their birthdays. Catra's was in late december and Adora is still january.

Catra smiled at her cab driver and thanked him for the lift. She had gone to the mall with Emerson to get something for Adora's birthday.

Okay. Should she be so worried about Adora, her fake girlfriend, having a good birthday and whether or not she could get her something? Probably not. But she was so deal with it. She also had to get Emerson some new winter clothes, so it worked for them both.

The first couple shops she had gone to were for Emerson, she always came first. No matter a silly crush. Or at least a silly crush is what Catra had hoped it was.

Once Emerson was happy with her outfits, Catra payed for them and made her way to look for gifts. She had been talking to Bow and he told her Adora liked jewelry.

Don't get me wrong, Catra was in now way rich. She lived in a hotel for god's sake. But she knew the art of saving.

The first couple months on her own, (with the exception of Emerson) she had trouble. But soon she got the hang of it. Her jobs were mostly halftime, but they paid well enough for her to move up to the hotel suite.

She had saved up for that for months. She was incredibly proud of herself too. She could give Emerson her own bed and space.

That made her believe that she had at least done something right.

Catra contemplated getting Adora a teddy bear and calling it a day. She had never had a girlfriend before, even if this was her fake girlfriend.

"Do girls still like teddy bears or is that stuck in 2014?" She asked Emerson, who shrugged in response. "How should I know? I'm seven! I was born in 2014, idiot."

"Fair point, let's just go."

[..]

After  being coerced into getting Emerson a funnel cake, she came across a store and saw something that caught her eye. "Before we go, you mind if we go in there?" she asked Emerson, receiving a nod in return.

She held Emerson's hand and entered the store, were she saw a necklace. Why it had caught her eye, was the sword pendant on it.

From the past few months of hanging out with Adora, Catra had learned the blonde's love of swords.

"Ah yes, That's a beautiful piece. From times of the Eternian war. There's even pieces of first ones tech! Man I love first ones tech, it's so interesting!" The vender told her.

Catra didn't know shit about Eternia, she probably should've paid more attention in her classed.

"How much?" Catra asked.

"Only $17. That's 1700 pennies, 170, 68 qua-, "

"There's no way." Catra interrupted. That looked way too real to be less than twenty dollars. She glanced at the person's name tag, "Listen, Entrapta, I may be young but I'm not an idiot."

"Hey! I'm telling you! It's amazing and I lower the prices so I can share with people."

"Okay.. I'll take it." Catra said, still a bit suspicious. Her gaze turned to Emerson, who was holding up a bracelet. "Can I get it? Can I? Can I? Can I?"

This kid was going to be the death of her.

"And that too." Catra told the woman, smiling a little at her sister's excitedness.

Adora had been at her locker when she saw Catra approach her, she could feel her cheeks heating up. Act cool!

"Heyyyy, dude!" Adora said, pointing her finger guns out.

"Why are you acting so weird?" Catra asked. "You look constipated."

"I do not!" Adora argued.

"Anyway." Catra shoved a box into Adora's hands. "Happy birthday, or whatever."

"Catra!" Adora said, looking like she was going to tear up. She opened the box as Catra fidgeted with her fingers. There, was a necklace with a sword pendant on it and a note. Adora wanted to cry. It was adorable that Catra had even gotten her something.

"I'm gonna go to class now." said Catra, her face was a bright red, making Adora even more excited. Before she could leave, she was engulfed into a hug by Adora. "Thank you."

"Okay.." Catra started. "You can let me go now."

Adora shook her head. "Not until you hug back."

"I don't want to."

"Well then I'll be clinging to you all day, we have our classes together."

"Idiot." Catra mumbled before slightly hugging back.

Adora, happy with her success, pulled back. "Hey, have you started packing for the trip yet?"

"Trip?" Catra returned, confused. "Remember? Rule number 4?"

Catra had actually been hoping Adora had forgotten about that one. She laughed nervously. "I have not. But I will, I guess."

"Okay, good."

"Walk with me to class?" Catra asked her, holding out a hand. "Sure, I'll give you a head start." Adora told her, grabbing her things from her locker.

"Okay. Don't take too long!" Catra said, walking off.

Adora smiled to herself and looked at the necklace. She put it on and opened the envelope with the note in it. It had a little drawing on it, and it read...

'There's no one I'd rather fake date. Happy Birthday.

PS. I still don't like you.

~ Catra'
