Lillies

Set my heart ablaze but dont keep the key
Take my hand and dance with me
Among the thorny brush
And the distant skies
I wish I could just lie here and listen
To your lies
But alas my mind has grown in strength
And now your stories come up blank
The world we promise has long since fled
And I often wonder if it is me you think of
Before bed
The distant light of fireflies flicker as the
Northern wind rounds your cherry cheeks
I wish the past could be rewritten
And wash away the tear streaks
But here we stand,
Two different positions
And now when I see you my eyes no longer
Glisten

May your rough words and swollen hands
Brush past no more
And may your eyes that once held love pour
So many regrets all in one day
I wish I could give what you couldn't take
And yet here I stand among the throng of lillies
My head spinning from the laughter and fun
Why is it that the most innocent are left to die and the wicked to run
