Ruby Riot: Kirishima x Reader

~Chapter 19~

Kirishima: I would fight to the end of the Earth for you, I told you that.

Y/n: Yeah, but I don't want you hurting yourself, especially not on my behalf. I thought you were....

You hesitate to finish your sentence. Kirishima holds a hand out to you and you take it.

Kirishima: I may have lost against Dabi, but they would have to get through me before they can lay a hand on you. It was worth it.

Y/n: You don't understand, I thought you were gone, you were unresponsive.

Kirishima: That's exactly how it felt when you passed out in training at the beginning of the semester when I didn't know the drawbacks of your quirk ! It sort of still haunts me to this day.

Y/n: But that's different ! Your life was on the line. Recovery Girl said you would've been permanently injured if we waited any longer to bring you in.

Kirishima: Oh really ? I didn't know that, but I'm fine now, see !

Kirishima offers a bright smile in an attempt to cheer you up. You give him a serious look.

Y/n: Kirishima be serious ! I can't stop replaying the whole evening, it was terrifying. I was right next door and I still couldn't sleep alone. I asked Bakugo to stay with me last night.

Kirishima displays a suspicious look on his face. 

Bakugo: Not like that, spiky haired idiot. She wouldn't stop crying like a big baby, would you have wanted me to leave her like that ? Besides, she had nightmares....I couldn't just leave, not like that.

Bakugo looks away.

Kirishima: Thank you, Bakugo. I appreciate you comforting her. I would never want her to suffer through that alone, so I'm happy you were there for her.

Bakugo: Yeah, whatever.

Kirishima: I'm sorry about the nightmares you've had. If I weren't resting last night, I would've been happy to comfort you. It's been a few days since I held you in my arms that it feels like forever. I wish I could go back in time to stop this from happening. I'm just very grateful that you're okay. I know that it was traumatizing, so if you need anything just know that I'm here for you.

Bakugo:....Make that two of us.

You look over at Bakugo, who averts his eyes away from your gaze. Then you look at Kirishima who's giving you a warm smile.

Kirishima: I know it's hard, but I don't want to see you cry about this. I told you crying is manly-and it is, but I hate to see you hurting, especially over me. I was roughed up a bit, sure, but every burn, every scar, it was all worth it to protect you. I made a promise to you, and I'm a man of my word. I want to see the cheery and happy you. If anything were to happen to me that results in a worse ending, I want you to remember the positive memories of me and of us. Can you promise me that ?

Bakugo: Way to be morbid, idiot.

Y/n: Kirishima, I don't like it when you talk like that.

Kirishima: It's the reality of being a hero. Just like Crimson Riot, I strive to be a hero that fights til the end.

Y/n: But-

Kirishima: -So can you just promise me that you'll stay positive and remember the good times ?

Y/n: I won't be okay, but you have my word.

You look down to avoid Kirishima's gaze, blinking away the tears forming in your eyes.

Bakugo: Now why did you have to say all of that, Kirishima ? Now you're going to make her sad all over again.
