CHAPTER 9. "PHILOPHOBIA"

Start from the beginning

I stand next to her and take a glance around. It was surrounded by lush green shrubs and tall trees, some of which were green and others of which were yellow, it was breathtaking. When I turned to look at the green-eyed girl beside me, she had a gorgeous smile plastered on her face and her eyes closed as she took in the beauty of the surroundings. I slid the basket onto my left hand, piled blankets on top of it, and hung my camera around my neck. I intertwined my right hand with hers and gently pulling her forward so we could begin walking. We didn't talk on the way there; instead, we both admired the scenery.

There were barricades along the road signaling that we shouldn't go overboard. However, to go to my spot, we must first cross the barricades. I looked left and right to make sure the coast was clear, and when it was, I crossed the wooden fence with Scarlett, who didn't question it and simply wrapped her arms around my arm, clinging to it. This portion of the forest was a little spooky; it had an ominous vibe to it, and I believe that's why people come here or it's the fact that barricades were keeping them out. We kept walking until a cliff came to a view, at which point I put down the items in my hand and led Scarlett to the brink. When she realized how high we were, she clutched my hand hard.

"Is this where you're going to kill me?" She gazed down and straight ahead, more trees of all colors appeared; there were no buildings visible, only trees and rock formations. The sun slowly rose, warming the air around us, but the wind blew a chilly breeze from time to time, making us quiver.

"Oh, honey. You're gonna be the luckiest person if I kill you here, the last thing you'll see is this gorgeous countryside." I made her laugh as I moved up to the basket and selected one blanket, laying it on the ground for us to sit on, and the rest of the items, placing them in the middle. Scarlett Indian sat alongside me after I called her over. "You must be famished, m'lady." She grinned and I took the snacks from the baskets. She chose a bag of Lay's chips, which she opened, and I dipped my hands in, grabbing a few, and eating them.

"It's lovely here, so why go over the fence when it's already lovely there? But, to be honest, it's a lot more amazing in here than there." She muttered as she put chips in her mouth and gazed out the scenery; while she gazed out to the view, I stared at her. I was occasionally glancing out there too, but my attention was mostly fixed on her.

"Why waste time in a normal place back there when there is a wonderful one just waiting to be discovered? I love this place since I'm the only person who has ever seen it. People are afraid to cross the fence because a section of it was eerie, therefore they are unfamiliar with the area. I'm glad I found this since it actually helped me relax, since then, I've made this place my own.." I said and she hummed in response understanding what I meant. I'm also glad that I'm able to share with you something that is mine... well, technically this isn't mine, but you get the idea." She giggled and nodded at the same time.

"Yeah, I understand that... thank you, for this," She motioned at the surroundings and the picnic. "Best date I've been in." She said leaning towards me kissing my cheek.

"I'll do everything for you, princess." I leaned towards her planting a soft kiss on her forehead before grabbing my camera. "Let's take pictures." I stand up and she did too following me.

I snapped pictures of her while she sat close to the edge of the cliff, and I joined in the frame snapping a selfie and many photographs of me making a silly face. We spent more time taking pictures while walking about, but I was mostly capturing photos of her when she wasn't looking. Then I decided to record myself talking to the camera that was facing me, and when I told Scar that I was chronicling her death, she laughed at me. I directed the camera at her, which made me laugh because she was trying to push it away, but I held it tight so it won't fall on my hand and I could still get a shot of her while we went back to our blankets and resumed eating our snacks and talking.
