Remember that spring? We went to picnic-
Seventeen- both of us;
Lying on that blue car bonnet for hours that day-
Watching stars and dreams
And fingers in love.

Remember, Cathy's day at the altar?
Twenty-seven we were then.
Promises and hopeful kisses,
Fragrant dreams in that summer of us.

Remember Betty in that graduation gown?
Forty-seven, fall it was ;
Eyes misty, dreams lived,
Affections traded - and teary smiles.

Remember? Carol became a mother-
Seventy-seven - a touch of apricity.
Lives lived, enjoyed and shared,
Memories cherished and photos amber.

And spring will come again still-
and bloom will young love,
and season and grow,
and live its full,
and return again, to the scent of earth.

Note: Amaranthus means 'a flower that never fades'. It can also refer to a rosy hue which is unanimously the colour of love.
