Getting home, you thank the taxi driver and continue into your home. Unlocking the door, you take off your shoes, drop your keys onto the table and greet your parent (s) / mom/dad. "You're back early!" They say excitedly from the other bedroom. Running into their room you make sure they don't get up, "You're supposed to be in bed, not up and walking around." You worriedly look at them. "This bed isn't doing me no good. If I want to move around I can!"

They slowly wake back to their bed. "That's a pretty dress/suit. Where'd you get it from, one of your clients?" "No, Katherine actually let me borrow it for a while, I'll give it back to her whenever I see her again." You tuck them into the bed. "How much did you make tonight?" They smirk. "Mom! / Dad! That's secret information but you didn't hear this from me ... I made 700 dollars tonight. "You smile wide." What ?! You must have had it working ', girl! "They laugh." Ewww! Stop, I'm just doing my job."

You roll your eyes and grab the medicine bottle. Handing them a spoonful of the cough syrup and a glass of water, you lean on the door frame hoping they drink it all." I'm glad you took it this time, you were being slick yesterday. "Telling them goodnight, you walk back into the hallway. As you're walking into the kitchen, you count the money in your pocket, nodding your head you sit down at the table. "Bills, rent, medical expenses, and groceries." Splitting the money into different piles and different envelopes.

Grabbing his jacket, you go down to the mailbox and put all of them into it. Smelling the smell of cigarettes everywhere you went, you realize it's his jacket and decide to wash it. Running back into the apartment for quarters and running back out to head the laundry mat. Walking to the laundry mat, you watch the street lights turn on and flicker. "Excuse me ... Do you know where the laundry mat is?" A man asks. "Um- yes sir it's just this way. Straight ahead, I'm heading there so if you want you can follow." You state. You both start walking and making small talk.

Finding an open washer you put his jacket in there, grabbing some detergent and putting the quarter in. Doing all the important stuff you grab a newspaper and wait for it to be done. The man comes and sits next to you, "Well, I'll be damned. What a nice lady like you for washing a poor man's jacket." He crosses one leg over the other. "Oh, I'm just doing him a favor. That jacket smelt horrible, those cigarettes won't do him no good."

Suddenly on the radio, they hear: " 25-year-old Eugene Everett has been arrested and is now awaiting trial. This menace has been on the run for many months escaping prison multiple times. It's nice seeing a criminal behind bars as they deserve Along with his 17-year-old brother Apollo Everett, sentenced to life on parole, that poor boy hasn't even lived his life. This has been-"He turns off the radio and sits back down." I just can't see why they would've locked up those men. I mean they were handsome, intelligent, and got their way around the business. I mean not to toot my own horn but that guy Eugene was sure of a guy."

He smiles." You seem to be very fond of them." Blinded by the accent, you continue to put the jacket in the dryer." I've just heard from some of the guys I have lunch with that some of them are like regular people." He turns the radio back on." Aww damn, it's going to be raining all week, not really good for my schedule. " He leans on the bench. " Great. Won't be making money unless he comes back."You mumble. The dryer goes off and you get the jacket out," May I see that jacket?"

He holds out his hand. You slowly nod and head it to him," I'm sorry, sweetheart but this seems to be my jacket. You see, I gave it to this young lady to cover her from the rain, got caught by the cops, and never got it back. "He changes his voice back to his normal voice."

Incoming news! Eugene Everett has escaped from the county prison and is on the run once again. If he is spotted with you, you both will be arrested. I repeat you both will be arrested. If you've seen him please notify the police. "Well dollface, I gotta run but you say safe out there. "He takes his jacket and runs out of the mat.

"You can't go back there! They'll be looking for you and my apartment is just down the street, you can just crash there and leave in the morning." You yell out of the mat. "What about the warehouse?" He stops in his tracks. "Of course, they'll be looking there! Listen to me, nobody really hangs out around our apartments. Just... Ugh! C'mon!" You grab his hand and lead him to the apartments. "I guess I'm going with you then." He smiles.

Being anxious you keep looking out for cops, suddenly an umbrella covers your head, "What are you doing?" "What does it look like? I'm covering you from the rain... Be grateful. Also, this won't cause as much attention to us." He proceeds to walk with you. "It's just right here." You open the doors, holding them open for him. Getting to the apartment you stop to talk to him, "My mom/dad/parent(s) are sleeping, and please don't wake them up. Also, take your shoes off before entering the house."

You unlock the door and he follows you in, making sure to take off his shoes at the door. "Nice place." Eugene looks around. "It's okay... I'm just happy I have somewhere to call home, take care of my dad/mom/parent(s) and myself. It's homey, I guess." You go into the bathroom. Getting into your pajamas, cleaning off your makeup, and brushing your teeth, you look into the mirror and sigh. "Why did I let this man into my house?" You go back into the living room. "Oh! I have extra clothes like really comfortable and really baggy. I can't imagine sleeping in a suit... So uncomfortable." You give him the clothes.

Changing his clothes, you sit there watching him. "I guess it's not every day you see a man changing clothes." He smiles. "Well..." You make an awkward face. "Oh!" He realizes and laughs to himself. "Here's a blanket and pillow. You can sleep in that room, I'll just take the couch." "Why I don't take the couch and you sleep in your room." He holds the pillow to his chest. "I'm closer to them and I usually crash here... Besides, I haven't slept in my room in months." You exclaim.

"The same reason you should sleep in there. Go ahead, I won't mind the couch." Eugene sits down and waves you off. Going into your room, you only see this room once a week coming to clean, thinking you were gonna be in here once your parent(s) got better. Well, that didn't happen. Remembering how warm a bed felt you snuggle into the sheets and fall asleep. Interrupting your sleep, there's loud knocking coming from the living room.

You grab a robe and slowly walk to the door. Looking at Eugene on the couch sleeping soundly, you look through the peephole and see the police at your door. "Eugene! Eugene, wake up!" You whisper-yell at him. You look for something to throw at him, finding a backpack you throw it at him, slowly waking up he looks at you confused. "This is the police! We ask you open the door now!"

"You better find somewhere to hide- I'm coming! One second! You're going to get both of us in trouble." You whisper. "Look. I'll do something, do you have one of those jackets with a hood? Also, a water bottle?" You go get him all these things and help him shave. "I look like a newborn baby." He looks into a nearby mirror and plays with his now curly hair.

"Hurry up!" You push him towards the door. "Listen before I open this door, you have to play along with whatever I say." He says whispers before opening the door. Clearing his voice, "Good evening officers. *yawns* How may I help you?" He puts his arm around you. "Sorry for the disturbance but we're looking for a young man by the name of Eugene Everett. He's escaped from prison." They state.

"Well, I have seen him in the newspaper. I hope people are being safe." You say in your sweetest voice. "Mhmm, so we're doing a mandatory search of people's homes. May we enter?" They wait. "You go right ahead." He nods his head over to the couch, noticing his suit you walk quickly over and hide it as they flood into your home. "Actually officers you might not want to go into that room... My parent(s) have influenza. Don't want you officers catching anything." You slightly smile. They groan and search the remaining rooms.

"I'm really surprised you fooled them." "Most of them are crooks anyway. Just there for the money and free coffee." He chuckles. "Thank you again, you and your wife have a good night." The officers leave.

Exhaling he lays back on the couch, "Those guys don't have any damn respect. Coming banging on your door at this time of night." He lays his head back onto the arm of the couch. "I just hope they cleaned everything back up." You walk back into your room and then walk back out. "It's a mess." You sigh. "I'll just go to sleep in this chair. Unless you'll be willing to give up the couch for me."

You make fake puppy eyes. Eugene sighs and gets up, "It's all yours." "Thank you!" You get comfortable. "Oh! A little food for thought... Apollo's in jail. Well! Get a good night's rest." He laughs. "Um- what?!" "Good night... Mrs. Everett." You throw a pillow at him, "Go to sleep." You slightly laugh.
