Jade's POV

I sat there quietly. It reminded me of being on a timeout. The steward kept himself busy reading a magazine. I did not see Liam or anyone else come through the place for the remainder of the flight. Numerous scenarios ran through my mind. I had no clue what Liam was up to or what he intended to do. There wasn't anything I could do either. I was stuck in this tube for a few hours. And even after we did land, I had a feeling Liam wouldn't let me off easily. There was something about him that made me nervous. I had to find out who he was and what he was like? I had to get some information. I looked at the steward busy reading the magazine and I cleared my throat, "Umm have you been working for long on this flight?" The steward looked up from his magazine, "Yes almost 3 years." "Does Liam take this flight frequently?" I asked. The steward looked at me as if I had asked for his kidney, "What he does is not my concern, Miss. Maybe you should just ask him as he fancies you so much." That was enough to make me shut my mouth.
This guy would not tell me anything about Liam, that was for sure. I had thought that I would use the time on the flight on thinking on how to get in touch with Jake in the prison but right now all I could think was getting out of this mess. Minutes later, the pilot announced that we would be landing. Immediately after that Liam burst through the curtain. He looked at the steward and told him to leave. He stood in front of me, "Get back in you seat, Jade." And he walked away. I got up and settled down in the seat and fastened my seatbelt. I saw Liam sitting in his seat, his eyes locked on me. I looked away. I had to figure a way out of this. I didn't know what he was capable of and I did not want to stick around long enough to find out. The flight was descending and I realized that we would touchdown in minutes. I had to bluff my way through him. That was the only way.
Soon the flight was on the ground and it was slowly coming to a stop. The senator got up and shook Liam's hand, thanking him. Liam smiled and spoke to him about a minute or two. Once the senator has disembarked, we waited another 15 minutes after which the women were asked to disembark as well. This was my chance. I had to sneak through. As the women started gathering their things I slyly tried sneaking out through the crowd in the aisle. "Leaving me so soon Miss Sokolov?" Liam asked coyly. I sighed, "Do you have X-ray vision or something?" He smiled and grabbed my hand and pulled me suddenly so that I collapsed right on his lap. A couple of girls looked at us in dismay, murmuring as they walked past us. I struggled as I found this extremely uncomfortable when he leaned towards my ear and whispered, "Act along or else.." I stopped struggling until the last of the girls got down the flight and me and Liam were the only ones on the plane. I jumped out of his lap, "How dare you do that?"
This time I yelled on the top of my lungs not caring if anyone else heard it or not. "Keep your voice down. You are lucky I let you stay here that long," he said sternly. "Listen Mister, I am not one of those girls. I was helpless and I got into this flight because of that. And you must have realized by now that I don't mean to cause any trouble, so why don't you just let me go my way.." "I don't intend on keeping you here any longer than you are required to. I just need to tell you something. Miss Jade, I am a very discreet person and thats why people come to me get their work done. There is only one thing I take pride in. That is in keeping things quiet and discreet. I hope I never see you again and I hope you never open your mouth or else.." "Or else what? You will throw me out a plane?" I snapped.
"Or else Luke will not be the only person giving you nightmares," he said. I stumbled as if I had been punched, "What did you say to me?" "It took me one phone call to get that information. You can only imagine, what else I can do. Keep your mouth zipped and we wont have any trouble. Is that clear?" He asked. I nodded in fear. How did he know about Luke? Liam then handed me a card. It was a dark black card with his name written in gold. "This has my number. If anyone approaches you asking any information regarding this trip, then call me. Don't say a single word. Just call. Understood?" He asked. "Understood," I said gulping down my fear. "Good. I am glad we have an understanding. It was nice meeting you and I hope to never see you again," he said standing up and walking down the steps of the flight. I got my bag and got down too, heaving a sigh of relief. A woman pointed me towards the exit.
I walked briskly towards the exit. I switched on the phone Layla gave me and gave her a call right away. She didn't answer and went straight to voicemail. I decided to leave her an update anyways, "Hey. I just landed and you wont believe the time I had. Call me when you get this. I don't even know where to start." "How about you start by telling me how did you manage to sneak into a chartered flight to Switzerland with a fake passport when you were supposed to stay in town pending the investigation of your boyfriend's disappearance Miss. Sokolov?" I turned around to face a stranger, fear creeping up my spine, "What? Who are you?" "Or should I say Jade?" I gulped. He flashed his badge with a triumphant smile, "Agent Matser. Interpol. And you just committed the biggest mistake of your life."
I stared at the badge. No way. It was like jumping from the frying pan into the fire. How did the Interpol know that I was here? The only person who knew the details about this was Layla. Did she betray me? How could she do that? I thought quickly. I couldn't give up being so close to Jake, so I did the only thing that came to my mind. I ran. Towards the exit. I could hear the agent mutter, "Oh for the love of God. Really?" I ran with all my might. I just had to get to the exit. The area was not very crowded so there was no way I could blend in. Instead I ran to the nearest building structure and hid inside it. It was a hangar. I saw people working on smaller private planes. I walked swiftly not caring if i drew any attention. When I thought I was safe, I tried calling Layla. No response. Shit. The only other person I could think of was Liam. And I didn't even know him that well. I searched for his card and tried to think. What could I say to him? And would he help me? I was about to dial his number when I heard a click. "Ok Miss Jade. Now don't be stupid. Show me your hand and walk backwards slowly or there will be a bullet in your brain," I heard a voice say. I gulped and raised my hand and slowly walked backwards. This was it. My short stunt as a fugitive had come to its ominous end.
