He looks up from his phone and puts it away.

"I'll take you shopping." He says looking at me now.

"Okay. You're not paying though." I tell him seriously.

He scoffs and rolls his eyes.

"Shut up." He says blankly staring into my eyes.

I glare at him and then take the spoon to my mouth.

"You sure you don't want anything?" I ask him referring to breakfast.

He shakes his head and just watches me.

I shrug and continue eating.

"So is it like a Mafia sort of event?" I ask him curiously.

"Yes. It's yearly." He answers me.

I nod my head in answer.

"What are you doing tonight?" He asks me as he checks his watch.

"Christmas Eve dinner. You?" I ask him.

"Business." Is all he says.

"You're not doing anything?" I say concerned but then remember that he doesn't have any family.

I mentally slap my forehead and roll my eyes at my stupidity.

I couldn't help but feel bad for him.

"Do you want to come for dinner tonight?" I ask him.

He chuckles as he keeps eye contact with me.

He rakes a hand through his hair and licks his lips before replying.

"Don't think your folks will like that."

I shrug and place the bowl down.

"I don't care." I say blankly.

"I'm fine Layla. It's been like this my whole life." He says.

I sigh and nod my head knowing I wouldn't get anywhere.

"I've gotta go." He says standing up.

I stand up with him and walk him to the door.

Once we made It outside, I turned to him and instantly wrapped my arms around his neck.

His arms came around my waist as he embraced me.

We stayed like this for a while until he broke it.

"I'll see you later Layla." He kisses my cheek and walks away.

I go back inside and I peek my head through the door to watch him leave.

Just as he was about to open the car door his grey eyes shot to mine.

My eyes widened and I stepped away from the door, my face reddening from being caught.

I waited a couple of seconds to see if he was gone, but he was now leaning against the car door watching me with a knowing smirk.
