Never Have I (Riker Lynch Fan Fic)

13-suprise concert

I was curled up on the sofa in sweats and a hoodie Riker left round here last time he visited, hair up in a bun watching re runs of Buffy The Vampire Slayer whilst drinking hot chocolate. I was tired and run down after having about 3 fainting spells in the past 48 hours. I was halfway through the first ever episode of Buffy when the doorbell went off putting my hot chocolate on the coffee table next to me I slowly got up and shuffled my way towards the door opening it to let whoever was waiting outside in. I pulled the door open to see the smiling face of my boyfriend “RIKER!” I yelled in excitement “I’ve missed you so much!” I gushed engulfing him in a hug burying my head in the crook of his neck, careful to keep my emotions in check “was the tour fun?” I asked releasing him and taking his hand leading him in closing the door behind us “it was fun! Wish you could have come” he said pulling me into a hug “we could recreate one of the gigs but instead Smiles could be the opening act” I suggested trying to make him feel less bad about going on tour without me. He beamed at me “that’s an amazing idea!” he exclaimed “but are you sure you’re up to it?” he enquired “I’m fine” I reassured him “now go call up Rocky and the gang” I pushed him into the kitchen so he could call them to tell them about our idea while I collapsed on the sofa again napping.

“Lola, hey Lola time to get up” I was shaken awake by Riker “oh hay” I yawned slowly stretching on the small sofa careful not to fall off “I spoke to my dad and the rest of R5 and they’ve agreed to do the show!” he exclaimed “that’s great!” I slowly sat up “now I have to tell my band” I left the living room and entered the kitchen calling Ryan. I stuck the phone between my ear and shoulder while I made Riker a cup of coffee waiting for Ryan to pick up “yellow” he asked “blue” I replied laughing a bit “LOLA!” he yelled down the phone when he realised it was me “RYAN!” I did the same to him laughing “how’s it going?” he asked casually “quite well. Now I have a proposition call up Mr Sweet Sixteen and tell him we’re going to hold a surprise concert for Elizabeth to make up for her lame birthday. Now does she like R5?” I asked firing questions at me “don’t know I’ll ask Mr Sweet Sixteen when I call him to tell him all of this. Now have you informed the rest of the band?” Ryan asked probably knowing the answer “errm nope” I said innocently “well Lola get off the phone to me and on the phone to them!” he exclaimed “alright, alright I’m going bye!” I clicked end and quickly dialled up Jamie, Spencer and Ian one by one telling them the plan, they were all for it. Hanging up with them I quickly got to thinking of our set list “hey Riker!” I called from the kitchen “what’s up Lolbear?” he asked standing in the kitchen doorway “what should we perform?” I asked stuck on the songs he pulled out the wooden chair next to me and sat down grabbing a blue sharpie and uncapping it looking at the list of our songs in front of me he started scribbling away on the pad in front of me “you should open with Getting down to basics, a favourite of mine and close with Lost love, slowing the show down now in between these you could play  Same Mistakes” (not to be confused with One Directions song of the same title) “oh and then a few covers in between like” he paused not knowing what songs my band could cover “like some Starkid songs?” I asked grabbing my guitar and playing Get Back To Hogwarts

Underneath these stairs

 I hear the sneers and feel the glares

I couldn’t see any spark of recognition light up Riker’s face so I skipped the first verse and went straight into the chorus

I’m sick of summer and this waiting around

Man its September so I’m skipping this town

I finished the chorus and looked up at Riker “anything?” I asked looking at him as he digested the lyrics, recognition lit up his brown eyes as it suddenly dawned on him what I was playing “oh my god yes! I love singing along to that!” he exclaimed like a little kid “awesome I love that song” I quickly wrote it down on the set list “alright we need 3 more songs for our set list” Riker nodded and we continued scouring for songs to play “alright so how about we duet with you on one song?” he suggested “yeah that would be totally awesome” I nodded my head sipping my hot chocolate while he sipped his coffee “we should duet on Kiss Me Again by We Are The In Crowd and Alex Gaskarth” I said writing it down as Riker nodded his head chipped coffee mug still attached to his mouth “and then one more song I think it should be a song where R5 randomly rushes on stage to sing along with us” Riker nodded his head liking the idea while we thought of songs where that would work “another Starkid song would work” Riker said “yeah but which one” I asked lifting up my mug of hot chocolate “Get Back To Hogwarts” I nodded as I scribbled that down in the margin next to the song that was written on the set list “still need one more song though” I reminded Riker who looked pleased with himself “oh yeah one more song” he muttered lost in thought “can you think of any other Starkid song we could do? ‘Cause I can’t” I asked placing my mug on the table “nope” Riker shook his head “alright so just general songs now” I said thinking “I Knew You Were Trouble by Taylor Swift?” Riker asked as he scrolled through his Iphone “yeah that sounds good. It’d be fun to song anyway” I scribbled it down and looked at the finished set list “that looks good” I smiled at the completed set list “now all we have to do is organise the technical side of the concert”
